clicking noise

Has anyone heard of a clicking noise under the hood when the car is warming up. Once the car is warm it goes away. If I bring the car into the dealer it would not do it because it would be warm. I guess I will wait until it makes the noise all the time unless someone knows what it might be. Thanks ahead of time.

if you referring to the injector's then it is normal,

the new engine DI has better gas millage but the down side is louder noise

i you talking about cold start all engines revs up louder until it warms up, so you probably hearing louder engine noise first 1 - 3 minutes and then engine settle.

if you are not happy take it to the dealer leave it overnight tell them i will come in the morning and let them hear the noise with you

I am not that worried about it since it goes away when car is warmed up. I suspect it is some sort of pully noise that once warmed up it is lubricated. I have 6 years on the warranty from MB with 0 deductable. I will wait until it makes noise all the time and who knows once I put more miles on it, it may go away. Thanks for the reply.

Just for more piece of mind, pop the hood pull back some of the cladding and see if you can better isolate the clicking sound to a part or general area. It might just be something that is loose and tightens up when warm ... simple fix.

I really don't think GregTr meant anything by this? He is very helpful and writes up great reviews in his short time since joining this forum. I can see how things can come across differently. I hope my comment did not add to this.

I sincerely hope you can figure out what the source of the clicking noise is.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it seem like your issue is unimportant or trivial. I've been listening to way too much stand-up comedy on Pandora and when the title said "clicking noise" I just remembered this skit and found it funny.

As for the original issue, you should be able to lift the hood and try to pinpoint as well as record the noise better for further diagnosis.

Does it sound like this? https://mbworld.org/forums/new-m-cla...ease-help.html

There is a W212 thread dealing with something similar maybe? https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ing-noise.html

I had this same problem with my E320, the clicking sound and it would stop after running. I thought it was a bad belt but turned out to be the Fuel Pump!
It had been replaced two years prior and since I waited a few months before having it checked out, Mercedes of Monterey, Ca. told me they would not fix/replace the
bad fuel pump that they installed!!! They told me I was a few days past the warranty!?! I do not even drive 3,000 miles a year! Still trying to get someone to help me
navigate the reasons why Mercedes Benz treatment towards a loyal customer has been Harsh!

My advice, Get your MB checked asap!
Btw, I also owned a 67' Camaro RS!! I wish I would have held on to it!!
