Lease coming due

Hi everyone, my 2012 e350 is coming off lease in March and my salesman called me the other day and wants to go over my options, so I wanted to see what you all thought.

He said they are almost out of 2014's and that the 15's are going to be priced higher than the 14's so I might want to come in the next few days.

He also said they are making a 4 cyl that will be around current pricing and the twin turbo v6 with even basic options is pricing out over 70k.

Is all this true? Is the current v6 motor not available in 2015, I can't find any info anywhere, kinda weird when the 2015's will be on the lots any day now. Are there any changes for 2015? I am also considering the diesel espicially if the e400 is so much more expensive.

Thanks for any thoughts and input, I realize I am all over the place haha.

They are still making the E350. The E400 has an MRSP at around $65,000 - at that price point the car comes loaded with leather, P1 and a whole bunch of other options.

So you drive an E350 and are happy with the performance, right?

You should not think of any other model than the diesel unless you want the performance of the E550 or what ever model would be comparable. The diesel in our driving environment is faster than the gasoline model and has greatly better fuel mileage.

I am happy with the performance of my current e350 I was just thinking about changing it up if the pricing wasn't too different. Are they stilling going to have the current v6 available in the 2015 models and are their any minor changes being made for 2015?

Probably do it now with pull ahead while 2014 supplies last.
Unless you want the E400 then wait till year end before pulling the trigger.

Mostly carry over from 2014.

Main changes:
E550 dropped for E400 replacement

E350 engine same.

Electric folding mirror added for 2015.

There is an ordering guide floating around this forum if you do the search function

So I went to the dealership and my salesman was adamant the e350 will now have a 4 cylinder and our current v6 is done. The pricing wasn't very good so I am just waiting. They had a very loaded one at 69k but with 2k down for 12k miles and 27 months it was about 875 a month, that seems very high to me. I didn't realize they would want another down payment so it makes very little sense to turn the car in early when they are going to require a down payment. I have kept my car mint and its under miles, is there any value in that that can be used? I would buy it out and then trade in if the numbers worked, anyone done that before?

I am in the same situation. The deals back in May/June 2012 were very aggressive and doubt if a 2014 or 15 will be even close to what I am paying now.

I hope that end of year sales push might yield some attractive programs.

You're absolutely right that quote is too high - that dealer is ripping you off. There is no down payment required. I'm guessing that he's using the down payment to present you with a 'low' monthly payment to hide the fact that he's scamming you in other areas.

There is at least $3k trunk money in the MY14 E-Class right now. Invoice on a $69k car is $64235 + ad fee, so purchase price should be at most $61.5k. Certain markets have even more trunk money; out here in Los Angeles they're selling for $5-$6k below invoice. 27/12 residual is 67%, and MF is 0.00136, which you can lower to 0.00126 with autopay. You should expect to pay no more than $700 a month before taxes for that car.

As for your current car, there definitely could be value in it if it's a good deal under mileage. You can essentially treat it like selling a used car you financed. Take it to Carmax and get it appraised, so you have a baseline price to work with. MB dealer can sometimes buy lease returns for cheaper than the payoff. If you have a private party lined up to buy the car, you may find a dealer willing to facilitate the transaction while taking a cut of the profit. Even if you can't, you'll get the most money out of a private sale. Depending on your state's DMV regulations, generally you sign a bill of sale, give them the car, take their money and use it to pay off MBFS for the car, send them the title once it arrives.

The dealer is wrong. The 2015 is carryover except the E550 is replaced by the E400. NOW... The 2016/2017 (whenever the all-new model comes out) may mimic the new C motors. After all, all of the competition ships with a 4-cylinder standard.

My dealer reached out to me about my 2013 E350 with 9 months left. I leased this car the week before the 2014's showed up on the lot and got a ridiculous deal. Close to $11k off msrp and great lease. Now here we are again, a week before the 2015's arrive and I was notified by my dealer that if I return early and lease a new 2014 E350, MB will forgive 4 months, disposition fee, $500 extra wear/tear assessments, $4000 additional incentives. My thought is that if they can move me into the same car for the same price I'm paying now, what the heck, right? I'll see.
