E550 COUPE P0017 CODE
Hi, was wondering if I could get some help here. I have a 2010 e550 that I recently bought and just had the p0017 code come on.. plugged it into a computer and it tells me camshaft sensor. Been researching a little and saw something about it being a serious problem on some mercedes engines but dont know if that would include mine. Tried looking at the stuff people posted about it but dont see my engine on there.
So could someone let me know if mine is apart of that problem, or could just that sensor be the problem?
I checked the wires around the sensors and the light went off, for now.

Have someone with MB diagnosis system pull codes p0017 may have sub codes to better identify problem.
If you are referring to 273 timing chain guide (272 balance shaft) your engine is well past the clean point 30 088611 so you're fine there.
“Checked the wires around the sensors and the light went off” have MB dealer check Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) for your VIN to see if it is included in Service Campaign 2012070002 to retrofit adapter harness on camshaft solenoids. If so, and repair has not been done yet retrofit is free even out of warranty. Check your email.

Have them revisit the SC repair and pull stored fault code(s) this should confirm problem. If solenoid needs replacement is not included in SC but it a simple DIY repair, have them document which solenoid is malfunctioning and its location on engine.
