Please Help .... Buying Used 2010 e550 Coupe
This is a repost.. I think I posted it on the wrong thread... Sorry!
I've always owned a BMW ... But may be going to be a Benz convert very soon :-)
I am looking at a 2010 e550 Coupe.... 25,000 miles for $28,000. I am in California
I think 2 owners so I will be third. Current owned bought it CPO from a dealership. He has service records.
The car looks like its in great condition. I haven't had a technician look at it, just myself... But at 25,000, there really can't anything be too serious wrong with it, right? Owner also says it's in great condition. It's just rarely driven.
Is this a good buy? Or should I be inspecting it more? What do you guys think? Only interested in hearing experts advice
Thank you all!
would the seller let you have a PPI done by an indy?
maybe you can provide a link to the car?
btw: I'm no expert but did own an E550 for several years
Unlikely there's anything major wrong with it - but I suppose one has to define "major". Get the VIN and pull the CARFAX. Then call MBUSA to find out what options it's equipped with.
Non major issues can certainly add up. I bought mine with only a few months of the 4/50 factory warranty left. I took it to an MB dealer for a complete inspection. They replaced both front air suspension assemblies, both headlight assemblies, and new wood trim for the interior is on order because the existing trim has faded. All work done under warranty but would have been thousands otherwise.
Thanks for all the response! I am now really considering getting a PPI tomorrow!

For $28,000 is it good deal? Great deal? Or average/fair?
KBB has the car valued @ $31,000 ... but nobody really actually follows KBB value... Real world people's experience is always different.
Thanks!
So the price is really good on that car!
I have had two problems so far since I bought it... the first was an aux battery going dead... not really surprising after four years of service. Would have cost $150 to get replaced (according to the dealer), but they replaced it for free since it went dead only three weeks after I bought it and it was CPO.
The second happened two days after the battery was replaced.... left front headlight went out! I didn't even bother with the dealer on that one... just went to my local auto store, bought a replacement, and did it myself. $15 in replacement parts. Simply not worth the haggle at the dealer for something that I consider to be a wear-n-tear item.
