Schoret1: Its an American thing. You know how we like to show off. I have one and showed it to Merc benz and it only took him a couple of days before he had his. I enjoy sitting in the car at night waiting to pick someone up and having the star glow. Very easy to tell it is my car.. If I do not want it on I also have a switch under the dash but I have never used it. I enjoy the illuminated star It goes on as soon as I open the car door and goes off when I leave the car. I have seen about 10 in my area.

Sorry I misinterpreted the New England part. If you purchase the illuminated star with the transformer and you mount it the way Mercedes Benz wants it mounted it does not go on while driving. It only goes on when entering and leaving the car. The people in your area may be spending the extra 200-300 for the transformer. That is maybe why you have not seen the illuminated star. Also it came as an option on previous year cars. but not an option on current year cars. But as you stated what ever makes you happy and I am happy.

Noka: I know you can buy the star from almost any dealer but what I was referring to is that when you order the car to be made you do not have the option to have it installed on the car while it is being made. I may be wrong so please correct me if I am.

Sorry, you might be correct. Maybe it cannot be installed during manufacture but only after. My car came with trunk spoiler (another exterior accessory) and I'm not sure if that one was installed after (e.g. at port). Of course, that detail is not explained on the MBUSA web site.

Yes oem from dealer just pull off rubber brake and e brake but gas pedal is full replacement.

First you have to choose a grille bunch of them out there (involves Internet searching). The illuminated star can be found at ur MBdealer if not they can order it.
