New to the W212 Club 2012 E550 4M
Hello,
Black Friday I bought something nice for Christmas. I traded in my 2006 E320 CDI for a 2012 E550 4Matic. The 550 is equipped with Distronic, parking, brown leather, key-less go, Pano-roof, heated/cooled front seats, lighting package, dynamic driver's seat, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and some other goodies - all of which my W211 didn't have. The M278 engine is very smooth and powerful - the car hides how fast it is. The 4matic grips really well, and even with ESP off I've had a hard time breaking it loose. I look forward to testing it out in the snow .
Last time I bought a used car was 1998, but the CPO warranty seemed like a good deal and I got 2 years free maintenance. The car was incredibly clean apart from a slight odor of cologne on the seat-belt which I cleaned. I also need to remove the chrome door handle inserts. Which leads me into my mods. I had the car tinted 35% yesterday, and plan on replacing the Blue-Efficiency badges with V8-Biturbo badges on the front fenders. Looks like a tune requires sending the ECU in for a bench flash thinking of OE, Eurocharged or Weistech for this. I was shocked to see how expensive downpipes/turbo-back exhausts are, but would like to free up some flow and increase the decibel.

Having had V8's in both MB and BMW trim, I'm sure this is a fun and strong ride. Being older now, I've dropped back to 6-cyl life (and my V1 doesn't have to work quite as hard to warn me),... but every once in a while I wonder...

prices on 2012 are very good.. and some 2013..
the price difference for the 2014 is around 10k.
I want a E550 Sedan for my wife.. but it needs to have air matic. I have steel springs on my coupe.. and they are great for me but not so much for kids and wife.
I'm sure the Sedan is a bit softer than coupe.. but I truly miss airmatic of my E55.

Thanks for all the love. My wife and I both like this E550.
Wanderfalke - If you're in the US that must be one of the last ones to make it here.
TopGun - I need to run the VIN to see what springs I have, but the ride is softer than my old E320 (could also be the brand-new Conti DWS tires). I was looking for a 2012+ E550 4M with distronic, and there were 5 within 500 miles (Literally a thousand E350 to put it in perspective) Finding airmatic could be a difficult search as well. I did see one that had airmatic and distronic, but was told it was sold awaiting delivery.
