If accurate, I see a Hyundai Genesis in my future.

JP500 12-03-2014 03:57 PM

Just to confirm something, the article states that you will have the option of equipping the new generation E63 with the former package... Is this referring to M157 motor still being available for this new generation? Or will the new E63 only be available with the new 4 liter Biturbo v8?

I already have a 2011 V8 4.6 Genesis. Its a great car. I have 141000 miles on my 2011 that I purchased new in Sept. 2010. No repairs at all, just replaced the first set of front brake pads at 130k miles. . However it does not handle or ride as good as a Mercedes.

AMGAffalterbach 12-03-2014 04:36 PM

I think they're trying to go to the M178 4.0TT in all of their 63 AMG products to replace the M157 but it would be interesting if that was an option. This new E-Class interior, and probably exterior, looks S-Class inspired. Not sure how I feel about it until I experience it in person. The W212 interior definitely needs an update though, even though the W211 interior wasn't as well "put together" I still like it a lot more than the current one, aesthetically. Minus the steering wheel and gauges.

While I agree it could use a refresh I do not agree on the 211 comment, esp " a lot more" hmmm

Not sure I'm feeling the exterior spy shots, time will tell:y

The only thing I can say for certain about the pics is, man I hate those wheels!

He was talking about the non-S E63 AMG.

"The E63 AMG will return with a twin-turbo 4-liter V8 and be available in regular (former) and S states of tune (latter). You’ll have the option of equipping an E63 with the former package and all-wheel drive."

Yuck. That blunted nose ala Jag XJ but not nearly as well integrated with the rest of the shape. Guess I should feel very good about my plan to keep the 13' Bluetec for 10 years! Just like the last E class (2003-2009 definitely still holds its own with the W212 and in some folk's eyes looks better than W12. Many will feel the W212 looks much better than the next one.

KEY08 12-03-2014 09:18 PM

I sure hope they put some air vents in this thing.

guess I'm used to that look from having my S for 10K miles.....they don't really bug me....from what I can see from that pic up top it looks interesting:naughty:

I thought the change was coming in '16???

Arrie 12-04-2014 01:26 AM

What is the point of having a thread like this starting with an obvious fake photo of the interior of the car?

wanderfalke 12-04-2014 02:23 AM

I do not have a sense of that being a authentic leak from a reliable source.

BenzV12 12-04-2014 05:14 AM

W222 S Class's air vents ,cool
W205 C Class's A/C unit ,nice
W205 C Class's buttons under A/C unit , elegant

The most important thing is to me there is no aftermarket looking knock off display as some of MB models have :y

It looks like W212's edgy angular design is smouldered with this new upcoming model .

rediesel 12-04-2014 08:31 AM

Looks pretty nice to me. There are S and C styling cues, and the integrated screen is much better than the tacked on ipad look.

The Nav screen appears to be the same as the S coupe.
It looks much better than the what is in the C, GT, and CLS.
I am surprised, after seeing the Nav in the FL CLS and C. The E class slots in between those two cars so I thought for sure that the E Would get that iPad thingy too.
From the little we see in the pics, I am sold on the interior. :y

Don't get too excited just yet ! If you look @ the spy shots of W213 @ www.topspeed.com , you will clearly see an iPad type screen sitting on top of the dash.
The Top Speed exterior shots also show the body lines more clearly in some of the shots. The rear end is clearly similar to the W205, with an oval shaped rear window, U shaped trunk lid and triangular tail lights. The W213 also looks longer with its stretched nose.

Which picture are u referring to? From the spy pics I see, the Nav screen implementation look very similar to the S coupe and nothing like the C class or the CLS and AMG GT. :nix:

It seems to be a well-defined screen, but it seems to lack the chrome surround and one can see instrument panel on all sides of the edges, directly above the four round air vents, looking as if it is more integrated.

If you closely look @ all 19 photos, you will see two different cars.
One of them, Lic. #FR-BG336 has the camouflage partially removed in six of the photos. This car clearly has an iPod type screen sitting above the dash.

The other car, completely covered by camouflage, Lic#FR-ZC103, has what appears to an integrated screen.

Perhaps MB is testing two different dashboards with these prototypes ? Or maybe they want to keep everyone guessing about the eventual interior design ?

One car is a mule. It is a W205 that was lengthened and widened for testing to determine the specs for the W213. Its just a chopped up production C-Class.
The other car is closer spec to the W213, interior and all being tested and finalized for production. :y

Integrated screen = good
Instrument Cluster = I see where the de-contenting / beancounters cut! Wow does that look cheap...like Nissan Altima cheap.

Clock is mounted far too low (yes, I know there's usually one on COMAND)

Actually makes me glad to be getting a 2015. I prefer the interior on it to this layout...and I wish the 2015 E's interior was more like the previous generation with all its gentle curves.

That is clearly just a "testing" cluster.

BeachBunny 12-05-2014 10:08 AM

I hope you're right... I remember seeing one similar to that on the C-Class and having it be an instant turn-off. The Infiniti Q50 has an equally cheap-looking one (straight from the Altima, I might add).
