Thanks for a chance to read about batteries. It was a good education. Again, thanks to you all.

The op's Oddessey only has a one year warranty.

I replaced my battery today. I knew it was going. The other day I started up the car after it sat for 4 or 5 days and while it started it didn't sound so good starting up. Later on the next day and later it sounded better, but I decided it was time.

Now with the new battery it sounds much better starting up even compared to when the car wasn't sitting.

I opted for the Advance Auto h6 AGM battery. They have coupons if you look around.

Good info on this thread. Let me add that batteries are like politics for some people but have to agree the Odyssey is likely the best lead acid battery money can buy. Having said that I do not own one because I feel the Optima is every bit as good. I know Optima went through a stent of trouble but I bought my 1st yellow top 14yrs ago and I just replaced it with another one a year ago. So an Optima yellow that I paid 179.00 for that lasted 13 years you just can't beat that return on investment. Many people never even keep a car that long. They are 239.00 today though.

2014 E550-sold 😩
Like I said earlier, an Odyssey battery for my E550 prices out at $425. I would never pay that for a battery when you can buy another AGM brand for less than half of that. I don't care how long it lasts and how virgin the lead is.

I read some negative reviews on the Odyssey (YMMV). New cars might be tougher on batteries for a variety of reasons and new battery quality might not be as good as it was back then. If you buy new Optima and put it in a late model car and it lasts 13-yr again, then I'm impressed. Let us know .

I did have an Interstate battery last 8yrs 9 months in my 93 Honda Civic so I've had good luck with Interstate too. The thing with batteries though is driving habits and care. I Don't care how good a battery you have, you drain it by whatever means and if you don't recharge it correctly it will significantly reduce the longevity of your battery. New cars probably leach more battery power due to all the electronics. This is not a problem unless your car sits long enough to drop voltage below 12 volts but some people inevitably let their cars sit at some point. My older truck leaches more battery power I'm betting then any newer cars. It pulls a constant 60 millivolts from all the capacitors I use for the audio system. Capacitors just dissipate energy. If it sits much longer than a week it's a slow start. I try to put it on charger if it sits a few days without running. I think mindfully keeping my Optima fully charged over the years is why it lasted so long but of course I use a yellow top cause sometimes I forget to charge if it sits too long and the deep cycles recover better.
