I have DWS, one thing to note though about them is your alignment better be perfect.
I had alignment issues with my mich's, I took it in and they got it pretty good, just a little pull, but tolerable still. I put the DWS's and that created a really bad pull. They had to install one of those crash bolts to get the caster up on one wheel. Now its all good.

First time I heard this. Maybe it wasn't the tires?

No one ever mentions Cooper tires. I have Cooper CS4's on my car, and really love them. Good wet traction, silent and comfortable, and handle well. Do we ignore them because they are made in USA ?

I had one set of Coopers on my 2005 E500. They got very noisy in last 30% of tread and had bad tread life compared to Michelin and Bridgestone. The actual cost per mile was higher than Michelin tires that I had in the past.

When was the last time your tire store did that? We should all try and build goodwill with our dealers.
I decided to go with conti's at the dealer. They came out cheaper.

Local Shop: DWS 06
$184.00ea (includes mounting & balance)
road hazard: $19.99ea
$816
$70 mail-in rebate = $746

MB Dealer: DWS
$260.00ea (includes mount, balance and 2yr road hazard)
Buy 3 get 1 free = $780.00
$70.00 mail-in rebate = $710.00

your math is wrong,
($184ea, + $19.99) x 4 = $816.00
after $70 rebate is $746.00 for local shop
