Spring Install $

Considering ordering some spings for Bluetec. My Porsche specialist quoted $1100! That is nearly 4x what it cost to install springs on my other cars including XKR, NSX, Z4M and more.

Can't be that high. What am I missing? What did you guys pay?

Springs you say? Well, I cant honestly offer an explanation for the higher cost than a porsche suspension job.

However, I do wish to query your reasoning for the switch. Ive often thought more dampening on the front would be beneficial, but im a weird driver for sure. The agility control suspension works well with the right tires/psi. What wheel/tire combo you running right now?

My runflats make the car feel like the shocks are shot, but ive hd them chekced. My dads gas 13 E350 just went back, and had regular michelins, felt like butter comparitvely. Same suspension. His new lease of a 15 C300 had run flats out of the factory and after feeling mine he immediately paid to change them day zero. Considering you do have a bluetec and all.

My car felt underdamped with run flats as well. Better with these Mich supersports.

But I want springs primarily to finish the taught buttoned down look after adding wheels. 2" gap no good.

Now on to why the job takes so long. ;-)

I had gotten C32 springs for my C320 and no one around here but the dealer could install them. Dealer charged me about 4 hours labor and somehow it came to about $700-$800.

So what's the verdict? Is $1100 reasonable for installing springs?

beejAMG 06-24-2015 08:17 PM

does that include the springs or just the labor? I reckon its too much either way. you can get coilovers for that price installed. im not sure hows the pricing on your neck of the woods but im pretty sure we pay double or even tripple down here and for US$1100 (about AU$1400), I was quoted AU$1600 for DRG coilovers installed. not the best brand but if youre not tracking your car, its alright.

That is just install! He said he looked it up and that is what he came up with!

beejAMG 06-24-2015 08:31 PM

way too much id say. for springs installation my tech can do it in 2 hours. 3 hours tops but quoted me just 2 hrs. roughly around AU$400 labor. find another shop that can do it. you can probably save half of what youre quoted for.

That's way too much. I had new shocks/ springs / upper control arms / lower control arms / pitman arms/ tie rod ends/ brake rotors / pads on my W211 for less than that.

Just had H&R lowering springs installed @ Indy shop for my 2015 ML250. $420. Labor only. Bought springs for $360 delivered. Total $780.
