New E Class?

Something is lost in translation.

Wow. Some pretty futuristic stuff. I like the keyless NFC idea and the belt bags, but cruise control that identifies speed limits and reduces speed accordingly sounds no fun. My distronic is already invasive enough!

looks like an S

The new 2016 BMW 7 series also has this self parking by Remote
|
I'll consider a 700 series if they can do this :)

https://mbworld.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/E-4.png The 2017 E-Class is going to be available with something called Remote Parking Pilot. Read the rest on the MBWorld.org homepage. >> |
Why do you need it remotely? Very narrow space and you can't open a door and get out of a car? Valet parking guys will love it.
|
I dont think much of it as well but hey, its a start of cars driving itself. besides, you didnt think you needed a mobile phone 20 yrs ago did you but now you cant live without it.
|
I really hope there is V8 (Non-AMG) in the new upcoming E Class......
But there is no information about it. |

I'd be all about this. The cool and wow factor on this is off the chart. remote control cars are no longer just lil toys thanks to both BMW and MB. The MB seems a bit more advanced tho as the 7series video only seems to move back and forth in a straight line
|
I think I'd be more impressed if an inflatable slide popped out of the sunroof and you can just go down the front. And then a button to seal it all back up :D
don't ask how you'd get back in though lol |
Sigh... I guess I have less than a year left before I have to buy the new E class or else everyone will think that I am inferior and too poor to afford the latest and greatest. I knew I should have just stuck with going incognito in a generic Japanese car. While I feel that our cars will age more gracefully than the bubble-shaped headlight W211's, it will still be depressing to see sticker prices of less than $20k for our cars in another year (and in five years time we will see a lot of W212's with massive spinning rims and DIY tint jobs).

With the remote parking they probably will do away with the folding mirrors. Not necessary anymore...

True. But I believe i read somewhere that BMW was NOT bringing the remote parking AND the laser headlights to the US.
UPDATE: It turns out we won't get the Park Pilot remote parking feature after all. The Mercedes-Benz engineers in Germany said we would, but an update from the US product team says otherwise. The reason, according the Mercedes-Benz, is that remote parking is a feature of Mercedes connect me, the smartphone connected services app used in other countries. Merceds currently offers MBrace in the United States. This could change over the life cycle of the E-Class, but no announcements have been made. The text below is updated to reflect this new information. |
One step further better would be single press of a button, instead of standing there fondling your phone. What if you receive a call right in the middle of you twirling your finger on the phone? Better yet, one button push should be on the key fob.
|
The constant "fondling" is for safety and to keep the responsibility in the hands of the operator.
That way if something changes mid-park, the manoeuvre can be aborted quickly. |
LOL fondling. Maybe that's why it won't come to the US. Europeans are more open minded supposedly.
|
You know someone in the U.S. will run themselves over with that.
|
My wishes with the new W213 is a comfortable car with a new Dieselmotor (Euro 6) as a 200 d (former cdi) and low fuelconsumption.
I hope there will be some nice colors too, and not just Black, Grey and Silver.. I like the color i have today, Cupritbraun, unfortunatley it was only avalible 2009-2013. But by Mercedes you can always choose your own color, but it cost a little more, about 5000 euro. |
