Hey, my E550 was from New Jersey before it went to auction. We could be related!

2012 E550 Coupe
A E550 Coupe Bi turbo, is extremely rare. I have a 2012, which is picture here. I see E350 Cab ' s and sedans, but you rarely see a E550 Coupe!!! Think about it, how many have you actually seen. I bet you a round of drinks ( a gentle men's bet ) , that between now and Labor Day weekend, you do not see 5, E550 Coupe's.
What do you say, wanna take the bet? And No stupid drink orders ( Crystal ) :-) Well 1 guitar, what you say?
By the way, I love that song, " 1 guitar " !!!!!

E300-4matic
I live in Monmouth County between Rumson and Holmdel and there are loads of them here, the car parked next to mine in the garage is a 2014 E550 4Matic. I see no sense in spending the extra money on a V-8 in a car that runs fine with a V-6, but there are loads of them here. If you're up in Bergen County I'm sure if you drive up to Franklin Lakes or Alpine you'd see plenty of them in those areas. After driving MB's for the past 20+ years, they're very good cars but in the end, they're just cars better than some and not as good as others.

I hear you but, you are not hearing me. "E550 COUPE BI TURBO", YOU do NOT see, E550 Coupe's running around! !!! That's what I am saying, they are very rare. ...do you agree?
Or do you see the Coupe's (E550) too?

I live in Miami and the majority of the ones i've seen so far have been coupes or cabs. I don't see many but when I do see them, they're rarely the sedan.

My dealer is loaded with used, cpo's and new 15's and he'll give you just about 10% off the sticker of a new one either on the lot or ordered. I am curious to see if the S600 is sold in any respectable numbers.
IMO there is no question that the "S" class looks too much like the "C" class cars and it's hurting sales of the "S" class. Time will tell.
I live in Northern NJ and have a 60 mile a day commute total and I never see E550s. I literally see almost every other MB except mines. I work in Bergen County which is littered with MB's so I would guess I see atleast 40-50 MBs a day Rte 17/ Rte 4 area and still no E550s. I thought it was just me but overall most people seem to get the same feeling about it's rarity. I guess you're just in a special area to see them often.

I noticed that too. I see plenty of E63, but E550. I guess it is issued by low demand, my dealer told me they sell only one E550 in six months. I assume guys who are mad about performance take E63. Others who have on hands a little more cash than required for E350/400 just take S.

Yeah, I travel all around Bergen County, including Alpine and Franklin Lakes, and I never see another E550 coupe or sedan. I will see maybe one E550 cab a month. I see plenty of CLS550, SL550, S550,S63 and S65, but the rest are a mix of C300,C400, CLA25, CLA45, along with hundreds of E350 / E400.

I initially customer ordered a 2014 e550 sedan because it was a "poor man's" e63... For $76k new and with a warranty and 1/3 the cost of maintenance (brakes/rotors/tires)

I only upgraded to the E63 because the trans in my e550 was clunky and my e63 is smooth... And the e55 was my dream car... Once you go amg.....

Well of course if you could comfortably afford a E63, why would you settle for a E550 sedan? Sure the E63 costs a lot more maintenance and insurance wise, but it's also probably a lot more fun on the open road. At the end of the day, that's what these cars are built for.

For me, I was strictly looking for a coupe. I already have enough 4-door cars, that I couldn't see getting another one. The CLS550 didn't come in a 2-door and the S is designed for people who want to make "a statement". So that left either the E550 or SL550, the latter of which is a far less practical DD car.

Funny how I saw an E550 today on the Turnpike not to far from the Lombardi rest stop. On top of that it was a coupe with a soft top. I didn't know they even existed, I couldn't help but try and stay right behind him/her to confirm if it was a soft top. I was stunned. Black color and just guessing it was a 2009-2011 area model. I'm not great at telling what year a MB is just yet since I'm new to the fold, I wish I could've snapped a pic of that unicorn

Yeah there's a girl who lives in my building who drives a grey E550 cab... very nice looking car. I think it's at 2013/14 but not sure.

You forgot the C63 coupe. The C coupe (c204) and E coupe (C207) are built on the same platform and actually have more in common than the E coupe and E sedan (w212). I thought about the E550 coupe or C63. The E coupe is nicer than the non-AMG C coupe, but the AMG C closes the luxury gap while delivering blistering performance. As a DD the W207 is probably better, but I already had my DD covered.

Hi Rediesel,

Every C63 coupe I saw, like the CLS550 coupe, was a 4-door, which I wanted to avoid this time around. Yes in my time researching which various MB models might be what I was looking for, I saw there were some shared components between the C and E coupes. I didn't think that was a bad thing. Just the opposite. I figured that that just meant MB considered those common components well-designed and reliable enough to be shared across different models. Also that meant that getting spare parts in the future would be somewhat easier the more broadly various parts were used across the different models.

Yes, I completely agree with you that the C63 would also make a very good DD car. It just wasn't what I was looking for. If I want more HP (and get rid of that idiotically low 130 mph limiter...the lowest of any of the cars I have) at some point, I can always just get a RennTech Intermediate tune, that would still be within the upper end of the normal operational range of both the motor and transmission, replace the H-rated tires with W or Y rated Michelin Sport A/S 3's and I would be good to go.

I bet he was totally oblivious to the honking horns, flashing lights and people passing him in the middle or right lane giving him the finger too. Why can't idiots like that just stay in the right lane or better yet just stay off the road altogether?

Really odd he was using his phone (in hands) when he has blue tooth capabilities. Or was he just talking hands free but obviously going slow regardless kind of thing?

funny you guys write about this, i saw an older lady driving a baby blue e550 convertible, probably a 2012 or something since it had the hockey stick lights.

how rare does that one have to be?

The e550 coupe is a hidden gem. Also the e550 torque converter is way smoother in stop and go than the mct and some would absolutely not like the mct...

I have an ML350 and when the warranty expires next May I want to get a 550 coupe. It is just the two of us and we seldom use the back seat. We have no kids or grand children, no pets, no reason to trailer or haul anything, etc. I guess we are the perfect couple for a nice, sporty coupe. Does anyone know of any changes coming to the 550 coupe that might cause me to wait for the next year's model? I'm an old guy and not a speed demon by any means but I would like a sporty V8 at least this one last time in my life. My fear is the V8s may be a thing of the past in this model.

I've only seen throwback MB's in Baby Blue. Someone on this forum had one, idk what year exactly but something from the 60s or 70's it looked like. That's a pretty rare beast there. (Not the old lady)
