Yikes ! thanks for the feedback. I was seriously thinking of putting these on my car. On my other cars, I put on Cooper CS4's and found them to be quiet and comfortable.

In the end I chose Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. I think these are good all-season tires, and I have no plans to use winter tires.

Anyone having an opinion on Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires is welcome to post here.

I have read good things over on the Hyundai Genesis forum regarding the Conti DWS. Since I live in the southern U.S. I have no need for snow traction and have not used the DWS myself.

At the point where I need to replace my tires due to age, only 30,000 miles. Longevity and fuel economy are not important to me. Nor is performance. Need a good All Season tire that rides comfortably and quietly. OEM tires are Michellin Primacy MXM4's on 17" wheels. Car has comfort suspension. The current tires are very noisy, often making conversation impossible or less than perfect roads. In addition, the ride is not all that comfortable.
Checked Tire Rack, but their latest system is confusing. Appears though Pirelli Centurato P7 as best or maybe Goodyear Assuarance Comfotred Touring. They also mention Michellin MXV4, but I never have liked Michellins I had on any car.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

I suggest you go with the two OE equipment that came with your car. It's either Continental ContiProContact or Michelin Primacy MXM4 (MXV4 is 2 generations ago). Both are Grand Touring Tires that focus on comfort and quiet.

I only use Michelin but you already aren't happy with those. I would go Continental then.

BS Potenza S-04 are great bang for the buck 4 years ago. You really have to try the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S that's the new hotness of high performance tire.

Got an email from dealership re: tire sale. Their opinion is to go with Michellin Primacy MXM4, but could also go with Continental Pro Contact. They sell both. Michellins are $200 more than the Continental for a set of four.
Went to Continental website and also called them. They say PureContact is better for quiet and comfort than ProContact.

Do you know if a 235-50-17 tire over 245-45-17 tire will mess up the e350 car? I'm trying to convert my car over to a thicker sidewall and eliminate low profile tires and not have bent rims.

would I destroy or cause harm to the suspension of a e350 sport going with a 235-50-17 Michelin defender over the staggered low profile continentals such as the rear 265-35-17?

Depends on the width of your wheel too. 255/45/17 would be a good choice that fits well over a 17 x 8 wheel.

I decided to update this comment - same set of tires, now with about 30k miles on them. I'm a low mileage driver. Still have tread left, very even wear. I keep them rotated and the car aligned. These are on 18" rims. 4matic Sport model. Tires are in good shape, no cracks, cupping, etc.

I'm about to head back to Discount Tire and use any remaining pro rated amount to put a new set of tires on. I understand that tires generally get louder as the tread wears and ages but for the last couple of years these have been annoyingly NOISY. To the point where I've had drive line and wheel bearings checked. Even though there's still life in them I'm tired of it. These are my 3rd set of Continental brand (also on other past vehicles) but my first set of the ControlContacts.

I'm thinking about the ContiProContacts as a replacement, but I'll also look at the other brands mentioned. Wet weather and noise/comfort are my priorities.

235/50R17 XL doesn't seem to be a common size.

245/45R17 XL is what Mercedes specs on those 17" wheels, these have an overall diameter of 25.7" and a sectional width of 9.6" on a 17x8" rim, it makes 810 revs per mile.

I can find 235/50R17 in NON XL, but these are heavy cars, and you'd be exceeding the tires recommended weight ratings. this tire is 26.3" diameter and 9.7" sectional width on a 17x7.5" wide rim, 791 revs/mile.

Using Michelin Premiere A/S as the 235/50R17 and Michelin Primacy A/S as the 245/45R17 XL, the 235/50 is rated for 1565 lbs max load per wheel, while the 245/45 XL is rated for 1709 lbs.

I'm not a tire expert but I have had good luck with Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 tires.

My car is still on the OEM Goodyear Run Flats.

I understand Mercedes does this so they don’t have to provide a spare tire and rim, but personally, these tires are stiff without the cushion, and have road noise.

in the market soon, monitoring this...

if you have staggered wheel sizes, you would need two different size spares, so they use runflats.

the diesels use runflats, I believe because there's no room for a spare, but I've not actually looked in the back of one.

Mine are all the same size, but you’re correct on the diesels. We have our DEF tank back under the trunk deck. I was thinking a mini tire on a correct pattern mini rim, like the domestic car Mfgrs do. Then yes, I’d lose some of my normal trunk space. I’d also have to get a jack/tire iron also.

remember, these cars need XL rated tires, so the spare has to have the same sort of load rating.

that and they need to use the same style lug bolts.... I've not looked at what the w212 uses, but my older mecedes required 'ball' faced lug bolts, whereas many/most cars use cone faced bolts or nuts.

I know domestic cars with their mini spare have nowhere near the cars normal load ratings, and when used as the emergency spare to get you to a station, I believe that’s all you need. Still contemplating.

the mini spares I've seen have the same load rating but not the same speed rating, most are max 60MPH and not meant for more than 50 miles or so. that said I'm not sure what the load rating is on the spare in my 212 wagon and its too dark to want to go out there and dig it out right now.

No worries. It’s just that if I replace the run flats, I can have a quieter and smoother ride. Weighing this vs buying the spare w jack and lug nut iron.

I have used Continental DWS and DWS06's for more than a decade on five different Benz's, they are great in the snow and great all-around tire for rain and dry, I usually can get 45-50k out of them when I travelled for work all over the southeast and upper midwest.
Runflats are terrible riding tires, but I would run them until they wear out, then I might think about buying a matching wheel, put that in the trunk and get regular tires. you will likely need the wheel eventually anyways as they are prone to bending, I realize that will take up a bunch of trunk space, but I think the ride change in the car is worth it.FWIW.

I also have been using DWS and DWS06 for more than 10 year on 5 different Benz cars as well as a number of other makes/models and types. This is an excellent tire in every way.
