2016 E250 4matic

I am about to trade my 2010 E350 for a 2016 E250 4Matic. Never having owned a diesel, what are your thoughts about driving a diesel powered MB, would you buy one again. Would you buy a 2016 E class or wait until the 2017 E class comes. Thanks for the input.

I traded my 2013 E350BT for a 2015 E250BT4M. I am very happy with the E250BT 4Matic. MB made many improvements to the MY2014+ chassis (eg. transmission, structural upgrades, and ride) and the 4 cylinder twin turbo engine is even more efficient than the previous 6 cylinder V6 diesel.

For highway driving, this car excels. It's very easy to get over 50 mpg (imp.) while cruising on the freeway. Highway range easily exceeds 1100 km or well over 600 miles between refills. Having 4Matic is also a bonus for winter and in wet weather.

Given Daimler's emphatic denial of having ever used 'defeat devices' for either diesel or petrol engines AND the proven benefits of a truly clean diesel, I would have no hesitation in buying another MERCEDES with a diesel engine. Their diesel engines have a very good reputation for long term reliability (hence the E Class taxi of choice for most of Europe) and longevity.

I opted for a 2015 rather than wait for the W213 for MY2017 or MY2018. I really like the current styling and size of the W212. The W213 will be larger and it will look like a downsized S Class, which does not appeal to me. I prefer the more distinctive styling of the current E Class, especially the Sport version. It's also never a good idea to purchase a new generation in it's first year of production.

Ditto. Have had our E250 for over a year now. Fuel economy and ride quality are phenomenal. We've had a couple tanks of pure highway driving that have exceeded 1400 Kim's. We usually get 900-1000km of mix driving between fills.

To a surprise of many owners, e250 gets easy 50 mpg plus on highway driving and it is better than EPA rating of 28/45. Ride quality is excellent and you won't miss E350 Bluetec with the car.

Did that really happen? I didn't know that diamler had denied using defeat services. I read that some regulators are looking into all German diesels and the share market of MB also plunged a bit. I was thinking they may be dirty as well, but apparently not.
Yes I too like the distinctive exterior of the current E class and do not prefer the mini S class looks. But I do believe that the interior of E class really needs an upgrade which the new model will provide. Sucks that I can't have both.

I drove German diesels for 10+ years. I'd honestly stay away at this point in time. Especially from a new vehicle due to depreciation concerns. VW has screwed up big time and the pin action will negatively effect all diesels.

Stay away from an Audi TDI, not an MB.

2016 E250 is a great car. Not a rocket ship, but if you drive a lot, well worth it. Owned 4 weeks and have 2,000 miles on it with zero problems. Very pleased for a 4 banger.

Airmatic suspension is not available with E250BT in North America. The full LED package is a must have option, IMO.

VW Ag is the company guilty of criminal conduct. Neither MB nor BMW diesel engines have been found to be non-compliant with any emissions standards.

Your predicted reduction in diesel sales for MB and BMW has not occurred in either Europe or in Canada.
