Almost all of the options or modern features are not needed. Do you really need heated seats? Put on a jacket. Do you really need a radio, sang out loud. Do you really need air conditioning? open the window. Do you really need power windows, power seats, electric starter, sunroof....................

Incidentally, all the things you mentioned are what people want on their cars and are willing to pay for.
As for the ECO button, the system is primarily a device to increase fuel efficiency so that DAG/MB can continue to sell very profitable gas guzzlers while meeting CAFE or similar standards. Results in all owners having to pay for and use a technology that they don't want.
If ECO was an option, how many people would order it?

If you live in the American South, you need air conditioning. Summers of 90+ temps and 90%+ humidity. Actually I can remember cars that didn't even have heaters, including Cadillacs.

Dislike this thread!!
Besides the gentleman who offered the ability/solution (mid city engineering) to default the car to turn off the engine stop- can a moderator delete every post including the OP?

and just to clarify to some of our good members on here. I did say from my previous comments that "my MBs are nowhere near perfect" but i dont whine like others do as soon as I found out something i dont like about it. and I certainly DONT throw another log to the fire by saying another brand is cheaper and better like others do. try to read previous posts to get the story right.

Well I know one thing. Not everybody can afford AMG!!!! and not everyone wants that stupid eco. Not needed, cars were just fine without it! and probably burn anout the same gas they use to plus killing battery, starter, and engine in the cold whether. But I can be dumb but if you think about it good a little kid can see that.

Mercedes owners seem to be rude tools or maybe just merc owners on forums....its likey due to the fact that most uneducated or dumb people use all their money to buy an expensive car or get a cheap used one to park it in front of their shack. BMW owners seem to have more sense. IMOH..lol

I disagree with your statement " all owners having to pay for and use a technology that they don't want." I think not all Mercedes owners dislike the start stop function. My guess is that there is a small percentage of owners that do like it, myself included. During times when I want to have fun, I just turn it off, I am not sure why pushing a button is such a big deal for some people.

I agree, I've seen even worst on the Beamer forum. I will admit, I've seen some pompous behavior here as well but it's the minority of people who behave that way. The bulk of the members here are fair and understanding people.

Agreed. I started a thread about lowering module vs lowering links & had a forum member offer me his Adjustable Air Ride links because he upgraded to the Renntech ELM. He just asked me to pay for overnight shipping. I received them & had them installed. Now I'm just waiting on it to stop raining so I can wash her up & get pics. Lol. But that's another reason why I enjoy this forum so much. Guys seem much more willing to help others as opposed to other forums.

Mistake on my part
I think you are confusing need with want, what did the people down south get by before air conditioning was invented, they open the window?

Before AC, we used four-fifty. All four windows down and 50 MPH. Didn't actually work very well, especially when you had to slow down or stop.

I know most cars are going to start/stop to save a little fuel and every little bit helps. But I am also certain the manufacturers know most people would rather not have it. If in fact that is the case, why in the world would MB not have the car default at start up to the last position selected by the driver? If the last position was to enable the feature then it should remain that way until disabled, and vice-versa. It seems like an easy fix that other brands have gone to and I don't understand MB reasoning not to.

Arranges for test drive.
Salesman has him push a bunch of buttons prior to drive.
Loves test drive.
Loves car, buys car.
Starts to drive home.
Car shuts down when stopped.
Car starts up again when going.
Buyer/poster goes berserk when finding he has to press button to stop *** system.
Buyer posts ridiculous thread IN ALL CAPS warning others.
Others chime in with their opinion.
