Sellin 2014 E550 Sedan
I recently found out that I am getting a company vehicle and regretfully need to sell my 2014 E550 sedan I bought earlier this year as an MB CPO car. It is silver with black interior and has pretty much every option including drivers assistance package, lighting package, multicontour seat, etc. The original MSRP was around $78,000 and it currently has less than 12,000 miles. My initial thought was to just sell it to Carmax but I am thinking I might try to sell it myself first since the CPO warranty would be transferrable to another individual and I am not desperate to sell it.
I haven't sold a car in years - is it worth even trying, and what is the best way to do it? Also, any thoughts on its value would be appreciated.

Carmax gives you a 7 day buy offer. I would get one as a backup offer that you can always cash in. Then post it online here and other places, or take to local dealer to see what you get. Also, can use as leverage for trading in on another car.

Trade-in on this car now, based on the original MSRP and options given, is $50K at MB dealer when getting a new MB (they may buy out the car for that without getting a new car too). They would ask about $58-59K for it in re-sale and will be happy with $56-57K or so retail sale. So private sale should be in area of at least $53K.

Depends on your market and you need a buyer to get even $1.00
You'll have to consider out of state buyers to potentially hit your goal selling price
someone looking for a potentially nice e550 like this will strongly consider out of state

Is this a 4 matic?

Yes it is. They're not easy to find, especially equipped like this, but that doesn't make it easy to sell. I looked for this one for a long time.

You had two of them (2014s) - you should know better than anyone. They're all only 4matic (2014 E550 sedans that is). I think MB went with 4matic as the only configuration in the US for E550 sedans starting with 2012 V8 TT.

Finding a private buyer for this expensive of a vehicle is very tough. They either have to have lots of cash to spend on a used vehicle, or be savvy enough to work out the details with a credit union loan. You will definitely have to price at the bottom of the competition to get interest. Fortunately it is a rare vehicle.

If you haven't already contacted your MB dealer, I would call them and see if they (or another MB dealer) would be interested in buying your car for cash and @ what price. Suggest you speak to the Pre-Owned Manager.

I got mine off of Craigslist, and in hind-sight, didn't realize how lucky I was, since I've never seen one listed nearby since. If you have time, it wouldn't hurt to list it. I got my last two cars from there, usually it's a win/win for the buyer and seller. Even if you get $500 more than the dealer is offering, that's $500 more you have, and the buyer gets a break over dealer used car prices.

I've sold a lot of cars 'by owner' both on Craigslist and through autotrader. Once you get above about $15,000 - the more expensive the car, the harder it is to sell by owner. Buyers of more expensive cars are often looking for the competitive financing they can get at a dealership and some reassurance of having a dealer to go back to if something goes wrong.
The CPO is a BIG plus that will help you out. You should still be able to do better than a Carmax offer but be prepared for it to take awhile.
