Front license plate
Hi guys,
Anybody here not putting on the front license plate? I much prefer the look of my W212 without the license plate, and I saw a lot of W212 without the front plate. I wonder how strict the cops are. And whether how big the fine is if a ticket is issued. I'm in Orange County, California by the way.
Thanks.

It's not if. It's when. Why give them an easy reason to pull you over? I say...Save your future-self the hassle and keep the plate. Fix-it tickets aren't so expensive. But also depends how much you value your time.

You do not need to drill a hole in the bumper. There is a bracket that fits into the left front tow box cover. It looks pretty cool. If I had known about it I would have gotten that instead of drilling holes.

This question has been asked many times. All depends on your jurisdiction. Fortunately I live in a state where they don't issue front license plates. I don't understand why some states require them while others have figured out how to get along without them.

It all has to do with the state the car is registered in. I would have a hard time accepting a citation for no front tag in VA for driving there with my NC registered car. That would be unconstitutional. Not that that matters much any more.

Thanks guys for the replies... My 2013 E350 looks WAY better without the front license plate. But I may have to think about putting it back on... Looking around, i see so many cars in my area (south OC) without front license plates. Wonder what their experiences have been.

^^^ Lots of others = safety in numbers. I'm glad I don't have to put one on where I live. I'd take a few tickets before I would put one on.

More states require both than not 31 vs 19. I think the USA is the only country in the world where you can get away with only 1 plate (in those States that allow it). Why? Who knows?
Chicago missing plate fines are ridiculous, so we all display them.

In my state it's required I believe but I see people all the time without one. I'm sure most cops have better things to do then bust someone's chops over it but if you catch the wrong one at the wrong time...Well you know how the story goes from there.

Cops don't stop people in Chicago for this, but if you park on any street here you will get a $60 ticket every single time.
