Those things, combined with a reasonable price on a CPO car makes this a buy to consider.
You're right about the emotional attachment. In fact it's why I started this thread. I wanted to get a more objective opinion to help me decide.

Today's also my birthday... That doesn't help at all... I feel like giving myself a gift of Merc... Lol

I'd like to focus on reliability factors for this car. What are your experiences or knowledge on the reliability of the 2013 E550 4Matic?

The used price is 39,837 CAD which comes to about 30,000 USD.

What price would you expect to pay?

Reliability of the 2013 E550

Good morning guys!

Thanks so much for the great input. I got good data to help out.

Hopefully this thread might help other wannabe e550 owners lol.

I'd like to focus the reliability factor for this car. What are your experiences or knowledge on the reliability of the 2013 E550 4Matic?

This info is hard to come by. Maybe I should make friends with a few MB mechanics... Any one here a MB mechanic?? 😆

I have a 2012 E550 with 32k miles and the only issues I've encountered are a bad O2 sensor and the Economy/Sport button had to be replaced for a sticking issue (all covered under factory warranty). No other issues with the car and I love it!

From what I have read, the V6, RWD E350 has an average to above average reliability.
However, the V8 E550 4Matic does not rate nearly as well.
Read the two threads at beginnig of this site that deal with service and problems.
Could also check out Consumer Reports and truedelta.com. Unfortunately, CR no longer separates the E350 from the E550 and no longer separates the coupe from the sedan.

Did you have to insist on repairs to be done on warranty or they just did it with no hassle?

The 550 has more issues than the 350 - but - much of the issue is with how the car is driven and maintained.

Has this car had any issues? If not, then there is a good chance that you'll get a reliable car.

Some of that depends on the dealer - and your relationship with the dealer. No dealer should question the O2 sensor. The sticky button "could" be a customer problem but most dealers should fix things without issues.

2015 GL550 4matic
I think the reason that info on problems is hard to find is because there are very few problems to be reported. Yes, a few have posted with some out of the ordinary issues. I think those are rare cases outside the curve, and also possible issues of owners pushing tiny issues to extremes because they have warranty and time to keep complaining. The most common problems with E class seem to concern Airmatic suspension, but be thankful this model does not have it.

It's a low mileage, well built vehicle. Keep up the maintenance and enjoy!

The local MB dealer gave me no grief and I did not have to insist on anything. My wife has a '13 C250 and they also fix her car if/when it needs anything. So far MB has been awesome at resolving any of our concerns with no hassle.

OP if your from Canada I would say that is a good price for a CPO. They can easily go for around $45k used. And yes this car in Canada go for $90k plus tax for new. So you are getting more than half off. Unfortunately we pay a lot more here in Canada vs our neighbor in the USA.

40k$ is non CPO and 49k$ is for CPO. Yes we do get to pay so much more for allot of products that sell for much less in the USA, unfortunately.

I'd rather buy it cash than pay for CPO. This certification that costs 3500$ makes no sense to me. Especially when you still have to buy the extended warranty at 2500$...

I'd rather buy the extended warranty for 3500$ and save the CPO bs.
