Some questions for E class owners and enthusiasts.

1. E250 Bluetec vs E350?
I was originally looking at e350s but the fuel efficiency seemed really nice on the Bluetec and after doing some quick research it seems like diesel engines may last longer. But on the downside, when looking for CPO's with the exact packages and options I want its a lot easier finding e350s rather than e250s and also I'm not sure how noticeable the power difference would be. So what are some opinions on the two?

2. Are there any real differences between the 2014 and 2015 E class? I know the two models are basically identical but I was just wondering if there are any packages that may be offered in only the 2014 or only the 2015, for example is the 360 surround camera available in both models and all the other safety features like parktronic, distronic and such? And besides the revised buttons on the 2016 model's infotainment system does it offer anything new?

I'm partial to gasoline cars but you will get some really impressive mileage from the BlueTec Diesel, so you summed up the positives and negatives really but typically diesels will last longer due to their iron construction and the fact that diesel is thicker and has some lubricating ability. Not sure on the year differences, you could probably comb through the model brochures and it would tell you.

2014 E-350
I would also consider the maintenance costs of diesel vs gasoline. Fuel filters, DEF costs, etc. of diesels can add up. Additionally, diesel fuel is more expensive. So mpg gains on the diesel can easily be outweighed with other costs. I think diesel costs an average of 40 cents per gallon more.

I have owned both. For around town driving and Interstate cruising I prefer the diesel. I suspect this is due to the gobs of torque they produce. But there are downsides also. Drive both, buy what you like. They are both good cars.

You are mistaken on the operating costs of a diesel. We have an E250. Operating costs are significantly lower than a gasoline engine would be. DEF costs $16 every 10,000KM. The fuel filter is good for 1000,000KM. Diesel fuel is currently 20 cents per litre cheaper than premium gasoline, and the car uses significantly less diesel than it would gasoline. I've calculated that the fuel cost in our E250 is 1/3 that of our E63.
