E550 Owners - driving style?
Just wondering, do you guys drive your cars aggressively? It seems like I'm the only Mercedes driver on the roads pushing his car. This is not to say that I beat up my car, but I do have a car with over 400hp. Shouldn't I be pushing it a little or should I be driving it as if I am retired? I'm not that easy on the gas pedal.

I wouldn't say I drive aggressively but I drive faster than most people and definitely faster than most MB drivers I see on the road.

It depends on how I feel on a certain day. Most days I drive like an old man in the city just slow rolling but on the highways I push it as I push most of my cars I've had pretty hard. If someone irks me for whatever reason or if I'm in a hurry I drive it like I stole it LOL.
On a scale 1 to 10 of driving hard, I'd say I'm a 7 while most MBs I see are a 2 :) |

I only push it when I will get to enjoy the power. Mostly when the roads are clear. Even then I only take it to 5 or 10 above the posted limit. My wife says I drive like a grandpa which is to say I do coast from time to time - it's not always gas or brake like she drives. I just don't see the point in traffic of accelerating until it's time to brake.
I drove the same way with my previous cars except for the occasional pedal punch. |
When traffic is very light or the road is open in front of me, I definitely enjoy driving fast in my tuned E550 (500HP)! Great thing about the TTV8 is it's perfectly happy loafing along or being pushed! :-)
|
I push mine harder than most I see out there. I didn't buy the powerful V8's to not use them.
|
Stay away of distronic. It kills all aggressiveness and makes you 70 years old grandpa.

Awesome that I have company!
I could and still never understand the gas or brake driving method. The real odd part is that it's mostly done by the _______ gender. Ok, I won't go further with that statement.. :D |
Well we just did a quick trip to my girlfriends parents. They are about 140 miles away from our home. On Thursday night, we were able to to that in just over an hour averaging more than 130mph...and we used more than half of the gas tank :)
Drive it like you stole it AS LONG AS you do not harm anybody! |
I push mine really hard only if I got tailgated.
Or someone around trying to show off their rice cars. I'll make sure they know the power of e550 |
I drive aggressive regardless of the car I am in but safely.....
|
mine: with an angry look on my face back to the STAR computer to sort out what the next Airmatic issue is.....
:D. Aside from that, it really depends on my mood. I typically flow with the faster side of traffic and unless I'm in a hurry or just in the mood for some grins, I am relatively conservative. |
I drive quickly more than fast. I love the push of my ttv8! Makes me smile!
|
I only have an E350 but I drive it very aggressively whenever is safe of course! I'm planning to upgrade to a 2014 e550 later this year or early 2017! I'll make sure i report back ;)

I admit to being a grandpa - too much traffic in my M-F commute to open it up much.
I cherish the few opportunities I get to make it fly. Reminds me to smile! Weekend I'm pushing around a buzz-kill SUV with balloon tires. |
When the traffic on the highway is minimal and the speed traps are not out, there's nothing like opening her up into the triple digits and listening to the sound. What a great feeling of flying down the road. :-)
I had the opportunity a few months back while In Germany to rent an E and drive on the Autobahn. Now that is what I call fun! |

I live in the middle of a city, and I don't drive far each day, or on the highway much, but I love the push I feel when I hammer it right when it hits 2nd gear off a stop light. I did a long road trip, and you don't even know you're doing 110mph, feels like 80 in most cars.

These cars are incredibly safe, well built and have a very solid when it comes to handling. They were designed to run on highways at much greater speeds than we can legally drive them here. You won't break anything on them by occasionally pushing them a bit. Of course, you should only drive your vehicle to the levels you feel safe doing so. Safety first and foremost.

I think this sums up how I drive...not sure I drive the 550 much differently than my previous E350
