Almost a month of ownership and just noticed this

I have the 2011 e550 coupe and when the door is open it does not tell me that there is a door ajar or anything. I didn't notice this until now. Any ideas?

Found it. Never mind. Stupid enough the car warns you after you start driving a little. How dumb is that?

Yes it is dumb. I was concerned initially too. All that is needed is a simple software, but the MB bosses decided that we don't need it. Once you enter the highway/ interstate and the warning go off that a door is ajar, you are literally screwed. Never understood their reasoning.

I think it only lets you go a few feet like maybe 20 before it alerts me on my car anyway. It can get you in a little bit of a pickle but unless you live right next door to the highway you should be ok lol.

The feature I find more concerning is that if you open a door on a slow roll, the car instantly locks up into Park, jolting everything, including your body. Can't be good for the tranny.

Another thing I just recently found was the brake HOLD feature. Kind of nice at long lights or drive-throughs.

On my old BMW, it does same thing unless you wear your seat belt.

Your over head light is another indicator.

it is much better than BMW has. The former won't allow you even to set a gear. I like everything MB against BMW.
