19" Tire size question

2012 E550 4matic. Looking at Niche Targas in a square setup. 19x8.5 +34 offset all around. I live in NYC and want to put 245/40/19 tires on there. Anyone know if these will fit the front. I know they are diff size than stock and am aware of the speedometer issues etc. But I am willing to deal with that to retain ride quality and not bend rims. Thanks

Go to www.willtheyfit.com

The choice you made should fit no problems. The wheel will poke outward by 2cm - (3/4 of an in) - I think there is more than enough clearance. but the extra 5% profile since you choose the 40's (besides making the car taller), when the speedometer is reading 60 mph, you would actually be going 57 mph.

Plus the 245 fitting on a 8.5 width, the sidewall will look a bit narrow and straight - not necessarily that you're stretching the tire, but would look weird. Just my opinion.

I would use either 255/35/19 (59.2 mph when reading at 60mph) or 265/35/19 (58.6 mph when reading at 60 mph).

since they are bad pot holes, I guess 35% of 265 is better than 255. so go with 265/35/19 is what I'd recommend.

However, 245 on a 8.5 width,

As for offsets, you might want to run a 10mm spacer in the rear, because I believe the hub is inset by 10mm or so (or the fenders flare out 10mm, which is more likely the case). Either way, spacers in the rear. You could probably get away with 5mm spacers as well, since you're only running 8.5" wheels.

The E-class W212 (except for AMG) came with 245/35 R19 on a 8.5 x 19 wheel over here in Germany. I use SL 550 R231 wheels (8.5 x 19 with 255/35 R19) on my W212. I fits the car, however, the speedo is of by ~1mph.

thanks guys! It seems 255/35/19 may be the way to go. 245/40/19 and 255/35/19 may be very similar in how much it affects the speedo. I will look into it more. Living in NYC and dealing with years of blown out tires and bent rims really has me shying away from thinner sidewalls

Please keep in mind, that 8.5 x 19 ET 34 with 255/35 R19 might be beyond the limit on the front! I do have 8.5 x 19 ET 34.5 and it already looks like that:
