Like all these different stories. I was planning on buying a new Accord, Optima or something like that with the idea that I would pass it down to my kid after 3 years when they turn 16. Then I would rinse/repeat for the next kid 3 years later.

But something about another 6-7 years in basic sedans didn't appeal to me. Sure they were safe and would be good options for my kids as hand-me-downs, but I just didn't feel inspired by them like I used to. I wanted my next car to have vented/cooled seats (due to FL humidity) and rear passenger vents and it was disappointing how few $30k sedans offered that (hence the Optima).

So I decided to look for used luxury cars with the features I wanted thinking I would end up in an Acura, Lexus or Infiniti. But one of the first hits I got was an E550 at local Carmax. Never had thought about german or Mercedes or even v8. But I felt I was getting so much for the same price of a new accord or optima that I couldn't resist.

Really enjoy the car but obviously my hand-me-down plan is screwed.

I still love the look of the CTS-V's inside and out, but there is no way in hell im paying $70k for a car I cant test drive while the sales people barely understand a damn thing about what they are selling. Either way I'm happy and probably better off with the E550, since the wife takes 5 years off my life every time I let her drive it. I can only imagine how long ago I would have died letting her drive the V.

2012 E550
Coming from a 2012 C300, Naturally I wanted a C450.... Until I sat in my current 2012 E550. I was sold by the extra room, and the power. Car was fully loaded as well, had to have the E550. I never considered any other brand, just models within Mercedes.

2013 E350 Wagon
We cross shopped Audi Allroad, BMW 328d, Cadillac CTS wagon. E350 wagon had the best combo of space, power and utility.
