What other cars did you consider? Why I went MB

MBWorld Fanatic!
Like all these different stories. I was planning on buying a new Accord, Optima or something like that with the idea that I would pass it down to my kid after 3 years when they turn 16. Then I would rinse/repeat for the next kid 3 years later.
But something about another 6-7 years in basic sedans didn't appeal to me. Sure they were safe and would be good options for my kids as hand-me-downs, but I just didn't feel inspired by them like I used to. I wanted my next car to have vented/cooled seats (due to FL humidity) and rear passenger vents and it was disappointing how few $30k sedans offered that (hence the Optima).
So I decided to look for used luxury cars with the features I wanted thinking I would end up in an Acura, Lexus or Infiniti. But one of the first hits I got was an E550 at local Carmax. Never had thought about german or Mercedes or even v8. But I felt I was getting so much for the same price of a new accord or optima that I couldn't resist.
Really enjoy the car but obviously my hand-me-down plan is screwed.

I really wanted a CTS-V, too! I'm an aspiring wagon nerd and the LSA V8 was amazing. Being RWD, I knew it was a pipe dream. I still think its MR suspension is the gold standard.
After buying my E550, I half-heartedly drove a then-new '14 Cadillac CTS V-Sport and found it to be nothing special outside of its tech. It would've needed to be super special to overcome being RWD-only and it wasn't.

Coming from a 2012 C300, Naturally I wanted a C450.... Until I sat in my current 2012 E550. I was sold by the extra room, and the power. Car was fully loaded as well, had to have the E550. I never considered any other brand, just models within Mercedes.
