1983 Ford Escort Wagon DX hand me down from my mom when I was 16. I got an 1985 mars red GTI MK2 as a graduation gift in 1991. I loved that car so much! It got stolen in 95 just after I finished building it out. I would love to build one again.

First car was a 95 Honda Accord V6,
after 130k miles it had developed serious engine leak,
got a CPO 2006 SLK280 after I graduated, until it was being total March last year,
and after a month of searching finally decided on a CPO 2011 E350,
I want to stick with non DI engine as long as possible.

Always wanted a pedal car. Is 56 too old?

88 mustang GT convertible. My mom was not happy. Got it for 3000$ from my girlfriends dad of all people. Had it 3 months. Totaled it . Then got a 1992 Ford Explorer. That car was actually a ton of fun at 16!

65 ford Galaxie

First was 65 Ford Galaxie 500 four door sedan purchased in Nov. 1968 with 50,000 miles. Great price and I was going into the Army and would be doing a lot of travelling, so the "cargo" capacity was great. Could hold all my military gear, civilian clothes, portable TV, stereo phonograh/radio and speakers, etc. with no problem. NO A/C and that sucked as I was in the South the whole two years I owned it.
Probably put about 25-30,000 miles on it and left it with my father to sell when I went to Vietnam. Had to rebuild the carb and replace the water pump and tires once. Company motor officer rebuilt the carb for me for $25 plus cheap parts from PX - and keeping him supplied with beer while he did it.
My first car of choice was a 71 Dodge Challenger with 318 V8. Looked great, but real POS quality wise. 18 months later married my wife who owned a 71 Buick Skylark and dumped the Challenger. The Buick was great.
Happy Motoring!

Had a 78 Fiat 124 Sport Spyder. Fun car, looked fantastic and fairly good size for a Euro sports car. No problems until got about 30,000 miles on it and it started snappign clucth cables at about 5-7,000 miles. Dealership replaced everything from clutch to pedal, including the pedal. Still did it. We did a 50/50 deal on the clutch itself. Still did it. Traded it on an Audi 4000 sedan.
Ironically, whenever I take my MB to be serviced, it is the same service center where I negotiated the repairs on my Fiat. Different dealer and only does MB's now.

1987 Lincoln Continental. Silver over burgandy. What a great car. I crashed it like a retard and still miss it. Air suspension was all perfect, car rode better than most new luxury cars. All my school friends loved the car, it was almost 20 years old at that point but was super clean and still really slick.

1972 Saab 96. Had a V4 Ford engine and a sprag in the transmission that could be connected / disconnected with a T-handle in the foot well. Remnants of the 2-stroke engine but allowed changing gears without using the clutch as long as the car was moving.

It also had a safety feature some cars still don't have...Daytime Running Lights. If the main light switch was off and the engine running the head lights were on with half voltage. There was no way to drive it without lights in the front.

My first car was a 1948 Plymouth Coupe in 1973. I was 14 years old and my dad and I took a trip to the Indy 500 race. On the way home we were talking about cars and he told me the '48 Plymouth Coupe was his favorite car back in the day. We made a deal that if I could find one we could afford (we would go 50/50) my dad would consider it. Well, it took me a whole week to locate one. It was only 5 miles from our house. We went to look at it and that was that. The coupe made for some great father son time. I did some cosmetic work on it and some guy stopped by the house and asked if it was for sale. I made a $600 profit. I've probably had 30 cars since then.
