It's also great when you want to race the granny in the lane next to you when the light turns green. I haven't lost yet.

Lol at the granny part.

I'll try again and pay close attention. I felt like an idiot the few times I tried and I was jerking the car back and forth. I got it to work a couple of times but I was on an incline so it wouldn't roll on me.

I wonder if the people that aren't using the feature daily are having the same issue of it not working seamlessly
I'm going to give it a few more tries since I pretty much gave up. It seems others say it should be much simpler then I'm making it. So I'll report back after I go out on break.

Yeah I did that at first when trying to "double tap" it. The way I described has worked every time. "Hill assist" is a separate feature that works whether HOLD is activated or not. I guess the practical difference between the two would be the activation of the brake lights (hill assist doesn't light up the 3rd brake light when I've done it at night, but HOLD always does, as others have mentioned).

It's pretty easy to use, and it works every time. No double tap. Once stopped, a brisk push on the brake pedal. If it says "HOLD" on the dash, you're done

I got a question

Is hold using 100% brake force so if I get rear ended lightly I won't get tossed into the intersection?

Or is it just using mild braking force to stop the forward creep

I use the hold function all the time. I've gotten so use to it when stopped at a light, in traffic. I guess it's just another little perk on my 2011 Merc

While HOLD is on a quick step on the brake pedal cancels it.

Use it all the time.

You don't double tap, or press quickly. You just come to a complete stop and push harder on the pedal until hold displays then fully release the pedal. Trying to do it quickly will make it very hit and miss.

It makes stop start better as well as you then just move your foot the the accelerator ready to go.

Like most others, I love it and use it all the time. Very easy to use and very convenient in traffic. But for me, since my right ankle has been rebuilt a couple of times from motor cycle spills, this feature makes driving more comfortable.

I had a decent trip down the shore this weekend and traffic was a mess. So I tried it several times and I got it to work 90% of the time. So I think I got the hang of it. It was pretty useful although I'd say on a typically day I won't use it much. If stuck in standstill traffic or waiting for a bridge/train light to change I'll use it for that mainly.

Does anyone know if the hold applies 100% braking power?

My understanding is that it is adaptive ( it would have to be as the amount of pressure will vary depending the gradient of the road you are stopped on) I don't know the response time or how many times per second the brake pressure is adjusted though. i

If you are getting rear ended to the point where the vehicle would move forward i'm pretty sure the grip from the tires would go a lot sooner than the pressure of the pads onto the rotor. Unless this has like just enough pressure to keep it from moving forward?.. i doubt they would design the system like that though.

I use it at every light I stop at. So much that when I drive my other cars I have to remember to keep the pedal pressed or I will drift forward into the car in front of me !
