Need honest opinion on my rims
Ok, this is my E550 with the rims that it came with. I am contemplating repairing and powdercoating the rims vs buying a new set..
So, I would like your honest opinions on the rims that are currently on the car.
1) Should I keep and powdercoat? If so, what color? Glossy black? Gunmetal?
2) Should I buy new? If so, what color?
I appreciate all input.
Thanks!!

Think those would look better on a body with more curves... not my cup of tea either way. But, if you do intend on refinishing, I say brushed/polished aluminum barrels/lip with clear coat and gunmetal (or maybe bronze) face. And bolts/nuts to match the face. Those wheels do make me want to chug a gallon saltwater though. Or punch a newborn puppy in the face.

I would get something different. I like the gunmetal but you may want to remove/cover chromes and charge side marker. Otherwise, even stock would look better IMO.

They look like anchors. Sorry they were passed onto you. Try to go to a stock AMG wheel if you can.

slap some 19's or 20's on that bad boy!
gunmetal, but you have to go all out, lower the car, get rid of the chrome bits, darker tint wouldnt hurt...
or silver for a more classy look.
chrome lip is ok but NO CHROME FINISH please, unless youre a pimp from the 80's.
just me.

Thanks for the opinions thus far and I am in agreement. I want new shoes.
I want to stick with 18s though. I will remove the chrome door trim for sure, but not sure yet about blacking out the chrome window trim. As far as tinting darker, I live in NY so can't get that frisky with the darkness but I'll investigate. I'm not sure if I want to murder out the car. Lowering not a good idea when you live in a snow state.
I am a noob when it comes to rims. The front tires on my car are 245/40/18 and the rears are 255/40/18. The back rims have a thicker lip than the front rims. How do I pick a set of 4 rims then? Sorry for the silly question. Of course the rim shop could explain this to me as well. But, not sure how to order from tirerack etc.

first, try to imagine what you want your car to look like and what style you wanna go for. colored wheels will look good if youre lowered and more. looks tacky especially if you wanna stick with 18's.
id vote for silver finish. theres a few designs you can go for when you google it...some good, some bad.

her's another search i did...

after you pick a design/look you want (which is the hardest part for me), next thing to do is get the specs (easy part). do you want an aggressive or conservative look?
PS: if you wanna stick with 18's, id suggest stockies.

Keep them and paint them gold, be unique.
I'd actually consider buying them off of you if they were 19s or 20s

I like them, mostly because I like rims with a dish. Those rims really add character to your car though. I absolutely hated the stock rims, I got rid of them within like 2 or 3 weeks of purchasing my car.

I think new wheels will change the whole look of the car, modernize it if you would, by simply changin the design to a concave or flat design. I have dish wheels and some are made for it and other cars are not...I don't think the Eclass is one for dished wheels IMHO

Unless your benz is a 4-matic and you live in the mountains that snows most the year, then I can see these rims along with those beefy tires being very useful and necessary, and being the best setup you can get based on the conditions.
If not,
The stock rims would look better IMHO
