Question Iphone Crashes Comand...?

My IPhone 6 (ios 10.0.2) seems to be crashing the command system every now and then.

When it happens I can go through the menus, but radio and other audio are
no longer working nor can I call from the system (it shows my own number
in the screen but other than that it's blocked)

As soon as I turn off the Bluetooth on my phone, command starts working
again, but when I reconnect the problems return.

only a hard reboot of the phone solves it for a while.

anyone else has the same problems?
is it the phone or does command need an update..?

FYI; It seems it's facetime (audio only) calls which cause the system to crash...

Happened to me today on both my 2010 E350 and my 2017 E300. I was extremely frustrated.

You can unfreeze the Command system by going to your phone - Settings,Bluetooth - turn off bluetooth. If you turn Bluetooth on again, it will freeze the Command system again.

Apparently this was caused by something in the latest iphone update.

You can Google the problem to find out how to fix this problem, but basically you need to unpair/deauthorize your car from the phone. The phone and the car have to be on. Go to Settings, Bluetooth (make sure it is on), the phone should connect to your car. Click on your car (on the phone). On this page you can unpair/deauthorize your car.

Then, use the instructions in your car's manual to deauthorize your phone. (I would tell you how to do this but the process is different in each of my Mercedes, so follow the instruction for your car).

Turn off both the car and phone. Then start over following the instructions in your car's manual to set up the Bluetooth to your phone. Everything should go back to normal.

Hope this helps.

I'm having other iPhone bluetooth issues related to music, not placing calls. If I am playing songs stored on the phone or streaming Pandora via bluetooth to the car, I can hear pops and blips every so often.

I tested this with both an iPhone 6s and 7 and had the same playback issues. Anyone know of issues related to the new iOS and the COMAND system?

My 2013 Lexus does not have this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are always new updates for these terrible audio systems to help with phone/bluetooth compatibility. Check with your dealership. If you are out of warranty though, I wouldn't try that. Fairly often, in the process of updating, it causes other problems with the Comand/Audio 20 unit, and we have to replace it in order to update the car properly. Very expensive if it's not warranty.

did my service only few weeks ago and mentioned the problem
they applied all updates that were available.
personally I think it's the IPhone that bugs. since their last major update things
have not been going so smoothly anymore...

Didn't have an issue with my 6+ while running the iOS 10 betas, but as soon as 10 released (and I got my new iPhone 7+), I've had the exact same problem of skipping/popping/clicking audio on both of our cars. I've been sending a ton of logs to Apple's bug reporting system so hopefully they can figure out what is happening here, as it would really suck to have this be a permanent new feature!

I went in to the dealer and spoke to a tech who said to adjust the bluetooth transmission and volume levels. He said that should help.

I can't remember the exact settings but I will check it out and post later. The adjustments seemed to help but not completely remove the occasional blip.

I'm starting to think there's a connection between receiving emails/texts, on and off of wifi/lte networks and the blips. When do yours usually happen?

OK definitely interested in what they had to say, and if it works. I wasn't sure if it had more to do with activity on the network, or possibly even the gyroscope as I thought it happened more when I was on a bumpier road, or possibly even rotating the phone in its cradle. But, that's all pretty hard to tell while driving at [redacted] speeds.

Not even sure how to do that, presumably through the engineering menu somehow... thanks, will give it a shot!

Settings menu in the device menu, I think. No special engineering mode, he did it with me in the car in the service driveway. Took 30 seconds.

I'm almost certain its a COMAND issue. I was in the Lexus today streaming music via YouTube and never heard a blip. That rules out the iPhone.

But it was never an issue with iOS 9 or earlier - streaming has never been an issue with any of these updated COMAND firmwares. So, I think Apple must have changed something with iOS 10, and possibly the firmware for the bluetooth modules within certain model phones.

Yup, I'd believe that; it's very possible that Apple changed something (by accident) that makes it no longer work with current MB bluetooth stacks. For whatever the reason, my 7+ with iOS 10 doesn't work properly on my 2010 E-Class nor my 2014 M-Class, both of which worked just fine with iOS 9 and my 6+. Apple is accepting my bug reports without closing the case, which means that there is likely something wrong that they're seeing with what I'm sending...
