Not an MB but...

good day! saw this on the ad the other week and got me thinking. its a 2.3l TI 233kw 432nm. 0-62 under 6secs. not a slow car by any means but i know...not a V8 and a mustang is an American muscle and a 4 cyl is not. im way pass that...i dont need a V8 as im thinkin of a DD.

I always wanted a mustang when i was living in America but cant afford it. now its avail here down under in RHD for the first time for around AU$55k. (2.3 Ecoboost, the V8 is about 10k more i reckon).

i know it doesnt compare with our MBs especially the quality particularly the interior. and I never owned another car brand apart from MBs for almost 2 decades.

i tried the Mustang forums as well and awaiting some replies, althoug im mot expecting anything much from there as i know a lot of purists when it comes to Mustangs hate the idea of a 4cyl Pony, so i thought maybe some on here have first hand experience (maybe not the 2.3l). im not very particular with the engine power though. any input is appreciated. cheers!

all i like about these mustangs is the exterior look , looks pretty nice , very well designed.... the rest is ..... cheap.
v8s are pretty fast tho. but still.... if it was a DD maybe.... would i love it ? idk to be honest... i like luxury a lot. maybe if the inside was nicer more luxury and stylish.... but yea... basicly my point

same here, i love the exterior a lot.
i know exactly what you mean mate. i was reading a few reviews and the "cheap feel in the interior" was mentioned a few times. then one reviewer said, "for around AU$55k for a mustang, it is cheap".

never had an American car before and i prolly wont unless its a mustang or a vette.

btw, it comes with 3 yrs/100,000 klms warranty plus under $1k for the 3 yrs service.

all about the look. Love it personally but for a DD I care more about the interior comfort, fit/finish, etc. b/c that's all I see.

i got you. although all the reviews ive read said its one of the most, if not the most comfortable mustang ever built. with the heated/cooled seats as standard it was mentioned that it cushions really well. prolly better than my 212 sedan.

fit/finish is a bit plasticky, never seen one but hopefully soon. now i dont just rely on reviews so im looking for first hand experience if possible. but is it really that bad?

The exterior is just gorgeous but I'm not crazy about the interior. All depends if this is going to be your daily driver. If not, i don't think comfort or quality isn't a big concern. I would just enjoy the car for what it is!

2015 E550 Coupe
That would sum up the vehicle the best. Good looking exterior with a decent level of fit and finish. The interior, for the price point in the American car market, is what I would say is slightly below average, but not terrible. The car was obviously designed to be attractive from the exterior, so the trade-off in the model you are referring to is the interior quality is something less than ideal. Lots more plastic instead of metal, wood or leather, but Ford had to cut costs somewhere to keep the price for this particular model where it is. I know a few people who have the non-V8 version and they say the comfort level of the ride is OK. Certainly fine for DD use. Most of the people I know own the fully loaded V8 version, most both tuned and modded, simply because they want the handling and power performance that matches the aggressive exterior body styling. Hope this helps you make your decision.

agree. cant stop looking at the exterior. though ill spend most of my time inside driving the car.

it will be my DD as i plan to trade my E sedan. however when i say DD, i mean prolly 2-3 times a week as use public transport more than I drive. weekends i use the 63 then the mrs uses the coupe.

thanks for this. down here, apart from the engine and badges, both 4cyl and V8 will be exactly the same. all will come fully loaded and prices will differ depending solely on the transmission. no options or extras. all have LSD afaik.

I called my local dealer and wait for the 4cyl is 10mos and 12mos for the V8. called another from the next state and they have one avail in magnetic color with 260k, said it was a demo.

http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/de...AG-AD-13434127

were trying to work on some kind of deal atm. thing is i wanna test drive both to make a better decision.

EDIT: 4cyl smaller brakes, V8 bigger Brembo. also, car on link was sold a few hours after i spoke to the SR. oh well, not in a hurry and im looking for color grey if possible.

A friend of mine has the new Mustang GT, it's really nice. The inside didn't feel cheap to me, but he did have the entertainment package or whatever with the bigger screen. I like it, I wouldn't mind having one.

Thats good to know thanks.

I know there was an update with the HU from June 2016. Sync 3 or something. Not sure about the screen size but they said update can mirror iphone with car play. Can you remember if the screen size is the same or bigger from the interior pic i posted above?

2014 E550-sold 😩
Always been a Ford family, since my dad ordered a 289 Mustang convertible in 1965. I have owned a 1969 390 4Spd Mach 1 with a shaker hood and a 1971 429 SCJ Mach 1. I want a 2013 Boss 302 and will probably buy next spring. I love Mustangs!
Happy hunting Beej!

My friend's GT had the same size screen as the picture you posted. The small screen is noticeably small as you can see in this picture:

Lol another good news is that all Mustangs that came out down here are fully loaded. Meaning no options and everything is standard. Folding heated mirrors, heated/cooled seats, satnav, LSD, keyless entry/go, folding rear seats, full leather, tpms, park distance with rear cam, and the list goes on. Not sure what came as standard or option back there but im sure all those are included on the base price down here.

So basically, your choice is manual, auto, 4cyl or V8...and color.

Limited Slip Differential, provides for better traction more so when cornering. I think. Haha

It was only offered her in 4cyl and V8, i think out there its the V6 & V8. But theres only 6hp difference between the 4cyl and V6 and needs lower rpm to peak, not to mention better petrol mileage.

The Mustang 4 cylinder got very good reviews on the track, most reviewers said it handled better than the V8 and any previous Mustangs. The interior quality is about right for a car in this price range. I had a Mustang in college and it was a good looking car but, things started to fall apart after 3 or 4 years, it is not a Mercedes like the title said.

Ive read those reviews too and it was a plus for me since im gunning for the 4cyl.

What problems did you encounter after 3-4 yrs? Suspension, engine or interior? Car comes with 3yr/100,000k warranty so thats a worry.

It was mostly a material quality issues and drivability. A lot of the cheaper interior and exterior material start to wear after 3 years and the car to starts to loosen up after a couple of year unlike Mercedes which stay tight for the long time.

i see what you mean. did you ever had any major problems with the engine, trans, suspension?
but would you say its worst than say, nissan?

*no offense to nissan owners. ive never had an American car before so ive got nothing to compare it with.

I feel like Ford's quality has been really coming up since like 2012. The best thing you can do is take it on a thorough test drive I guess.

Also, even if you find the power lacking in the 4-cylinder ecoboost, there are ways to make it faster :B
