Low mileage weirdness.

I bought my 2012 e350 about 2 years ago with slightly less than 30k. On the way home on day of purchase, i discovered a bad wheel bearing on right rear. Luckily i was barely inside factory warranty by a few days.

On Wednesday on my way home for the holidays, my abs light went off with sounds of dragging something from the right front. I couldn't continue the trip, had to be towed to a dealer. Dealer just called telling me it's going to be about 3k to fix.

The bearing seized to the spindle. This caused the wheel to canter and rub the rotor against the caliper bracket. So to fix it it will need both rotors reolaced, new hub and alignment. My car now has 40125 miles. The customer service rep said was very uncommon for the bearing to go with so few miles. Even more weird is that both bearings on same side.

Is this something I can have mbusa fix at no charge?

On good note the front brakes are good. And got a 2016 c300 4matic as a loaner.

I don't know about water damage. The noise was as soon at light came on. I never heard or felt anything different before then.

Since you had bearings fail on the same side of the car is why I asked about water. If that side of the car was flooded and sat in water for some time that can explain the failure of the bearings. Did you purchase the car from a MB dealer? If it is not a failure caused by something then I think MB should cover the cost since it is a manufacturing defect.

Very strange. Was it a demo? Maybe it was driven sideways.

Maybe the previous owner was a parallel parker and routinely smashed into curbs doing so. As you say, it's highly unusual to see bearing failures on these cars, especially at low mileage, and two on one side is even more odd. I'd bet there was some sort of outside influence, either impact or water damage as mentioned.
