Been decades since my CB days- any CB'ers here?
 

I was a very big CB radio fan- would not take any trip of any length without my CB all hooked up. I once broke down and via the CB I got a tow truck. Of course, today we have cell phones.

Wondering if anyone here was a CB'er as well-

We used them frequently in our Jeeps when out on the trail. Later, once we progressed into trailer only buggies, the CB's ended up in our tow rigs. There was a lot of area's throughout Colorado, especially near the trailheads without cell signal.

I feel like for our cars I'd rather have a Police Scanner :D. CB's can still actually be fun on road trips through. I just could not imagine putting an antenna to give it any useful range on one of our beautiful cars!

On the Mercedes benz I use waze from the cell phone . It works better than the cb did in finding out where the police are or obstructions in the road. On my daily driver I have a cb in it and only use it sometimes. Prior to Waze I had a cb in every car I owned.

I remember the one in my dad's cadillac from road trips over 30 years ago. great for checking for smokies up ahead and entertainment when no radio signals.

I still have it in my wife's caddy. It was the car we used to use on vacation until we got the MB. Saved me from getting a lot of tickets.

Back in the day I used to drive NY to Florida several times a year, mostly just myself. The CB was useful if finding out where smokey was hiding, but it also helped with boredom of 1000 mile trips.

10-4 good buddy. Used to have a dual band for monitoring the police and rescue channels on long road trips, very useful. In addition to the truckers being very helpful at communicating traps.

Funny story... years ago I had a snap in mount under the glove box area where the radio would slide in and snap into place. Just a push button release. Came back from a Saints game I attended in the Superdome to find a 30 pound block of concrete in the front seat... and the entire dash ripped out of the car, no where to be found. Criminals..., gotta love their intellect, as they completely ripped out (and I assume ran off with) the entire dash of the car, when all they needed to do was press the release button to slide the radio out. I can only picture the thief fleeing from the scene with a car dash. I can laugh about it now...
