Keyless Go question
In the spring when I start looking for a Mercedes one option I want is Keyless Go. I normally leave my keys in my car at the end of the day when I park my car in the garage. How does this effect the Keyless Go system in a Mercedes Benz? I take it the car would stay unlocked but would it put a drain on the battery for some reason? Second part of this question. If I have 2 key fobs and I give one to my wife who would keep it in her purse which she leaves on the passenger seat of her car that would be approximately 3-4 feet from the driver door of my "soon to be new Mercedes" would this cause any issues? So if I take my key fob inside my house with me at night, I take it the system would still "read" the one in her purse and make the car available to be unlocked? How do you guys do it?

Don't leave the keys in or near the car, when you are parked for the night. The keys will be in constant contact and your fob batteries will die a rapid death.

The distance has been discussed on here many times. My keys are only 15 feet away, but behind a door, so there is no communication.

Ok, so if i bring them in the house (also behind a door) I should be OK. Thanks for the clarification.
You can test it out by trying to open the car door with the keys in your house. |

Will try it at home tonight. |
As far as I know, the keyless go works only within a few feet. You can safely leave the keys in the house. My keys are always in the room which would be within 5-10 feet from the front of the car (of course with a thin wall in between). The keyless go won't work if you don't have the keys with you (within a few feet of the door sensor) while opening the car.

i just replaced my keyfob bat yesterday as the warning came up on the dash of my 212 sedan. i always leave the cars keys in the next room from my garage with a wall in between less than 5ft away. battery lasted for a yr iirc.

For leaving the key inside the locked car I don't think you can unlock it without the other key outside the car. |
My spare key which sits all the time in the house over 75 feet from the car got a new battery last year. Now it is dead with no use. Can never tell with these fobs and batteries. Just keep a stock of batteries on hand and motor on...

You are in the wrong forum . A MY2004 C250 is a W204 and with is the W209 CLK forum. However, I can tell you that if your car did not come from the factory with KeylessGo, it is not something that can be retrofitted.
