Any E63 AMG parts that can be placed on an e550?

Noticing that the cars are very similar and in some aftermarket brands (Ultra Racing chassis bars) part numbers are the same for both E and AMG on some parts of the car.

Wanting to know if any one has done it?

Seeing it as an upgrade for the future.

I would suggest that you look at recent posts by Chris The Swede. He has done more than a few upgrades on W212's.

I am having 2012 downpipes and 2014 catback put on at some point. I own them just haven't put them in yet. This is on a 2013 E550. Once the catback comes in I am going to take detailed pics of stock and AMG to show what differences exist.

What?!? you just got all your speed driven stuff put on!!! do you think it will make the same kind of power you have now or are you looking for something else?

Also do you feel the new power from the bolt ons you recently put on?

Yes - you are right, I just did have them put on. I really am just looking to avoid the dealer being a pain as I have 3 years worth of warranty left. They may or may not be, BUT, it's obvious from a looks and sound angle that it is not factory. Especially on cold start. Honestly after cold start it's a nice quiet rumble but that 1200-1300 rpm hold for a bit after it's been sitting is just loud as hell.

I expect that the speedriven stuff will outperform the AMG stuff by a touch. I believe the piping is larger on the speedriven stuff. I'll of course get the numbers to confirm that since I have stock and with the downpipes and catback already. I was surprised when I posted my review I didn't get much interest form the forum. Oh well.

I did notice a difference in power - nothing really at part throttle but at WOT it feels and sounds faster :P

The problem is not a lot of 550 biturbos are on here. Mostly NA 550's and 350's You had my attention and followed your posts. I'm still waiting to get my downpipes since I need cats for CA laws and after reading all the tuning fiasco's lately that was a hold up as well. However, I will have my tune as soon as I get my pipes and then dyno time.

They're probably all rich, old people who aren't hip to what they're driving... that being said, I also saw the post (and since your post here I went back and checked out your pictures from the install), but since I haven't decided to pull the trigger on the IC pump or DPs, I had nothing to contribute yet lol...

I'm actually considering getting wireless exhaust cutouts and needed your pics of the underside (since it's raining outside and I'm at work) to see how feasible it would be to install those and figure out where they might go. So far, seems pretty tight under there. If you have more pics directly under where the DPs end and near the mid-resonator, they might help. Or I can just get my car on a lift and look myself...

I don't have a tune - just the speedriven downpipes, catback and IC Pump.

maybe you can answer this for me then. Are speed driven's mufflers able to fit tips or is it floating design? I don't remember.

Floating - you keep the stock rear diffuser/floating tips.

biturbo E550 owner not hiding anywhere

E63 parts

intake filters
identical to M157
any intake kit or filter kit interchangeable
I have the upd filter kit for example

Brakes
front rotors might fight as is with the mercedes calipers
if you bought the whole amg caliper and rotor package would fit vendors sell this
rear seems to be very different rotor and caliper not sure how important upgrading rear brakes are in general

wheels from E63 can be used might stick out from fender a touch due to offset difference

cooling
There is talk of adapting the S coolers with minor hose/bracket upgrades

turbos
Recently E63 turbos were installed on a m278 and the results were amazing when properly tuned, that person used the M157 headers but seems to be belief that the m278 headers could be reused if the stock turbos can be unbolted and aren't welded.

Wow cool I was hoping there was people already doing what I was thinking of.

I would check out this 'Chris the Swede' for more information thank you.

Cocobeex your e550 is beautiful nice job. Curious when you put lowered how did you lowered it?

For now I am heavily interested in the suspension upgrade parts for my newly acquired e550. Any chassis bars or suspension grabbed by the amg e63 4matic that worked or worth it?

Would not mind reading more if there is a thread somewhere on this forum (AMG section? or is it on another forum?)

If there any improvements to be made on this car without increasing the noise of the exhaust I am all in

Any reading I have to do would love to know where.

Thanks...

Not sure on the sway bars but the E63 springs/shocks don't transfer because the fronts are air based springs instead of steel. Aftermarket steel spring coilovers or lowering springs would be cheaper better depending on what your wanting to do.

Mine has got AirMatic, so, it is lowered by using links.
I actually hate the AirMatic, its too soft.

Same here I ended up with airmatics on my 2014 e550.

Does the links people put on the airmatics e550 increase handling at all or it is all for show?

I came from a 2003 Lexus IS300 and riding with BC Racing Coilovers with upgraded Swift Springs (10k/8k) it rode smoother than stock and handled great.

Was hoping to swap out to similar suspension but now it seems it will be difficult to swap out the airmatics to coilovers unless I am mistaken?

It is very comfortable even in sport setting considering I live in NYC pothole city but definitely want to switch to nice set of coilovers for the handling.

Dont care much for lowering the car though so for now will look into buying stiffer chassis bars (Ultra Racing bars/amg e63 parts?) and see if that and links you guys use will suffice for now.

If not then research how I am going to swap out the airmatics to coilovers in the future.

Do love the this car though.

It still makes differences on driving.
It gets stiffer as it goes lower.
But its still not stiff enough when cornering.

As for strut bar, Unfortunately, Ultra Racing does not have Strut bar for E550.
I bought one for E63, but it does not fit for our E550.
If you find the right one, please, let me know.

The whole suspension can be swapped out, but all the error codes will pop up. You will need to program the car to hide those error codes.

I might swap out the whole suspension when they go bad. lol

I checked the site for part numbers comparing e63 amg 4matic to the e series w212 chassis bars.

Only 2 seem to be used from the e series for the e63 amg. The front strut bar 2 point which is UR-TW2-1835

The second is middle lower bar middle brace 4 point which is UR-ML4-1838

The others are not listed for e63 amg 4matic but for e series w212 which are

2-Point Middle Lower Bar / Middle Member Brace [UR-ML2-1837]

2-Point Rear Lower Bar / Rear Member Brace [UR-RL2-1854]

4-Point Front Lower Bar / Front Member Brace [UR-LA4-1836]

I am assuming it wont work for 4matic models or the amg had good enough bracing already which they only used 2 parts to improve?

Did your strut bar had the part number like listed above? If so maybe it is because of our airmatics in the front?

I now have the stock E550 and AMG exhaust pics and rough measurements - I'll be starting my own thread to detail it so when people search for it they find it, but I just wanted to report back that I have those pics. Stay tuned!

Does anyone know if the face lifted diffuser/exhaust tips from the e63 is compatible with the e550? Looks like the bumper is the same. TIA
