How the question is, How 'good/reliable/cost to maintain or repair' is Mercedes with Turbo?
I know BMW sucks my bank account, if tranny goes bad, no way to rebuild.
Audi does something that lets us keep our kidneys.
How about mercedes? When did Merc. came into market and did it establish good results overall?
I'm always afraid to get Turbocharged models, even though they give better output and MPG, I feel, we are asking more out of a small engine and eventually, it's life span will decrease. One main reason to stick to 3.5-4.0 V6 NA engines (TL, SH-AWD, W212 4Matic etc.)

The question would be: how imperceptible is the turbo lag? If they can do it like Porsche, they'd have a winner.

Also dealer told me this car will be charged at normal service rate, if I got 17 E43, I have to pay for AMG service rate.

My car has four year bumper to bumper warranty plus one year CPO warranty. So I didn't think about reliability at all, but based on my past four years experience with Mercedes, I trust its reliability now.

Is your car regular white color?
I am dying to see full profile shots

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
The only way to get the e400 for 2017 is the Wagon, same 329 hp Twin Turbo Motor as the 2016 Sedan, surprised they discontinued the E400 Sedan though, makes no sense. I'd never get a E300 4 banger.

Your previous owner cheaped out on the 'steering wood' trim/option too, like mine. The one thing I hold 90% of the time, inside the car. lol.
Mine atleast cheaped out completely on looks, no sport package, just OEM 17 wheels. But luckily, he got all the safety packages, contouring seats, massage etc.,
Very nice looking car, I like the both the white for some reason, than other colors and the grey'ish silver, once I sat in it, I liked the classy look of it.

I see these all around my job and it borderline angers me LOL. It's such a large vehicle it's seems odd that it can have any legit merging power with a 4 in there. Idc if it's twin turbo or not. It almost makes the brand look silly but maybe it's just me.

2014 E550-sold 😩
They are all over Chicago as well. As a commuter car they are probably okay, but definitely lack power. I must say I really like the interiors of the 2017 though. I have been in them and they are slick, especially with the Designo leather.

I had a couple of E300 loaners and felt in love with the new interior, but the E300 is a pig on the highway. In sport mode, 0-60 is acceptable but try to do a fast 60 to 80 pass on the highway, and the I4 engine will show its true self. I started looking at the E43, but its $80K and up and only wears summer tires. Anybody know if the E43 AMG cost more to maintain? Mercedes really should bring back the E400 sedan, it would be the perfect in between sedan for owners who want a bit more highway passing power than the E300 but do not want the AMG price tag, summer tires and high maintenance rate. The E400 sedan will fill the gap between the E300 and the E43 AMG nicely.

^ I was just going to say the same thing. I think the interior is stunning. I see they have two options where one has a second Large screen in place of the typically drivers cluster. That one looks even more amazing. If I could have that interior, I'd be in heaven during my commute.

Not to mention, if you have heated steering wheel, you will lose that function with the wood. And I think if you add those black wheels you sent me, then maybe you should upgrade to sport bumper...those wheels are too "sporty" for the Luxury model. The 6 spoke wheels you sent, however would be fine...just my $0.02.

One of my loaner had that option, the graphic is simple amazing. It also had the multi-contours seat with the massaging function on both front seats, the seats were very comfortable and the massaging functions rivals the S class. The only thing I did not like was no radio preset buttons like the old interior, the buttons are on the screen.

Oh cool. I like that they added the stitched Artico dash for 2015 (nice premium-looking touch), and I notice the center of the COMAND knob is now black. Are your seats Artico as well?

Don' feel bad, IMO, you are not missing much in not having the woodgrain steering wheel. I liked the woodgrain steering wheel in my W211 because it was a classy addition, but I think it looks out of place in the W212's. The steering wheel you sent me this morning is ok, but I don't they are worth the money required for parts + installation.

I loved the steering feel in CLS 400 I test drove. Especially compared to the steering feel in my E350 sport which lacks feel or meaningful effort. Is E400 steering different from the E350 one?

Are you referring to the feel, as in materials quality; or feel as in mechanical or weighted? I think the steering wheels in the E350 and E400 are exactly the same. If the CLS400 you test drove was a '17 or '18, then it may be a slightly different setup than the W212, and may be more similar to W213.

My E350 is 2016 and so was the CLS. I referred to the mechanical feel and feedback - not the materials and shape. I have no complaints to the flat bottom steering wheel in my car; I just want more feedback and effort

The 2017 E300 has a bit better steering feel than the out going E350, but still not in same class as a CLS. The CLS's steering feel can rival any current BMW non-M cars. Not sure about the E400 since I never drove one, the 2017 E43's steering is up there with the CLS as far as sportiness.

I agree with you, the E350's steering does leave a little to be desired. But it's not terribly bad like a GM or Chrysler or Honda or Nissan or Toyota product; it requires very little effort and doesn't have as much feedback as W211, but I kinda like that departure from my BMW's more sporty and effortful steering. Don't complain too much about the steering effort, just be glad you don't have the steering from a W203 Sport/AMG or an E39 Bimmer.

I also had a E90 335i, it will be hard to find any car that will have the steering feel of the E90. The steering on that car is practically legionary, it is laser sharp, no wandering on the highway at all, feedback is accurate and on center feel is right on the money. The CLS and the Macan comes close but they are both a bit softer than the E90.
