The 2016s I am looking at are in 60s(Canadian dollars). There's one loaded with options with only1000km on it is asking for $73000 from a non-Mecedes dealer. It seems to be quite a deal, but I'm not looking to spend that much. I've been trying to use it as a benchmark to talk to them.
The first 16 you mentioned has 14k miles only. so, it is not too bad afterall and you're saving 13'ishK CAD between 14k km vs 1000km one.
Is there something that is absolutely wanted in that loaded package?

As you said, money is also important, I would stick to 1st '16 model.
Again, color and interior will play a major role too.

Good Luck.

I meant it's in sixties(60s) lol my bad, sorry about the confusion. It's actually asking for 68. 60 is what I tried to get it to. The difference in options between these two is only the cooled seat which is nice but not a must to have. By the way, I feel the added two extra buttons for the cooled seats in the row makes it line up a lot better with the rest of the console.

I feel it is a tough choice again, for just few grand, you actually get a brand new vehicle.,
Anyway, look at the sale date for the first owner on each car.
If the 73k one is sold waaaaaay before 67k, stick to 67
else, start negotiating on the 73.

Actually, ventilated seats are not that satisfactory, based on other people say, a mini Cessna behind the seats, lol.

So are you saying the 2014 has the Ventilated Seats option? [the picture you've shown is of a 2016 model]
If so, I think you have made your decision, since you say you are ok with the E350 (since you have baby and will not be racing) and you like the extra buttons which make the row look neat---my OCD-ness can't stand the sight od blank or missing buttons either (especially when I know something could or should have been there), lol.

I also would like to say that Ventilated Seats are really nice to have; they are really useful in the summer. If you've never had them, then perhaps you won't miss them---but if you have ever had them on a car, you will definitely long for them again.

Strange. . . I would say the same thing about the twin-turbo motor in the E400. We have one of each. I'd never give up my turbos. Just too much fun when I'm alone and can use them. You can drive it nice, or. . .

I actually never thought about getting the 74k one. As it's getting closer to the cost of the W213, might as well considering the new generation... Anyway, I'm just using it as a comparison for the negotiation on the one I'm interested.

Ha, I feel you on the OCD-ness
Yes, the 2014 I test drove has it. The picture is indeed from a 2016. Was just using it to show my point. Practicality wise, the ventilated seats are not particularly useful given where I live. We can even survive without A/C with windows down throughout the summer, lol The seat did feel softer to me probably due to the perforation, which is another benefit. I'll definitely get it even just for the sake of the looks if I could. It's just a few hundred dollars option after all. Well worth it in opinion.

I wouldn't doubt that. Power is something that can never be too much

2016 E350 wagon
I'm looking at a getting a 2016 wagon later this year. Looking at CPO prices on mbusa.com I see a lot of variance for similarly spec'd vehicles. Is that normal?

thanks!

Yep, can depending on things like: region, color, dealer inventory, COGS, dealer motivation, etc.

Thanks tresean1.

COGS - College of Geographic Sciences to me

So what does one use then to determine which vehicle? Pictures? as they vehicles are usually a few thousand miles away.

lol, sorry---that's the Finance Guy in me speaking; COGS is cost of goods sold (or in other words, how much the dealership is in it for; or how much they purchased the car for).

To determine which vehicle you want, you'd need to tighten up your "wishlist": max mileage you'll accept, color, must-have options, in-service date, etc.

Then once you narrow that down, then it's time to make phone calls and ask the dealership your specify questions. I assume you plan to purchase sight unseen and have the vehicle shipped to you?

I don't have much of a wishlist, I'm not too picky on what it should have. What should it have? I never thought about having it shipped. I thought I'd fly to where the car was and drive it home. Maybe a bit of gamble that way.

I can't really tell you what it "should have". I just know what I would benchmark. It also would depend on your budget. When I search for cars, I don't put restrictions on price, because I look for the car to be as fully loaded as possible.

Since you're not too picky, you'd be satisfied with a base model, minus even the P1 package?

Driving the car back home is an option, but I always have my cars shipped.

The budget is somewhat negotiable though I'd like to stay < 60k US. I guess there are a few things that I do want, the Sport package and P1. I haven't seen any CPO that list P2, maybe I didn't read close enough.

You buy sight unseen?

Thanks for the help!

MY 2014+, the P2 package was eliminated; options that were once in P2 are now spread throughout P1 and various other packages---so that would explain why you saw no P2. It's virtually impossible to find an E-class without P1, as that includes basic features that you'd think a "luxury" car should come standard with; and dealers know that. I guess technically one could be ordered literally barebones/base (no metallic paint, with MB Tex, and hubcaps or standard alloy wheels).

Sport Package and P1 are good starting points; I'd never buy a car without Keyless Go, or Ventilated Seats, or Distronic, or Parktronic, or Lane Tracking.

I have always traveled to the state my car was being sold in: do my walk-around/inspection, negotiations, paperwork...and I am back at home patiently waiting for it to get filled with tank of gas, detailed, and shipped to me in enclosed transport.

Lots of things for me to think about, good. I don't think I've seen a CPO with Distronic listed, a few Parktronic and tracking. And there aren't a lot of non MB-Tex.

Yeah, takes much dedication and patience if you want to get it just right. Feel free to PM me if you need more assistance. I have helped many friends purchase MB cars; and even helped my good buddy on here, raja777m, purchase his first MB.

Just wanted to update on what I got. I actually picked up a loaded 2013 S550 instead. With 50000km and paid $50k CAD. it was 9k less than the offer I was given on a 2016 E400 Wagon. It seemed to be a no-brainer. The level of amenities and refinement of the S-Class is totally on a different level compared to E-Class. Couldn't be happier about the decision, well, so far. I am aware of the cost when it comes to repair.

Cheers

Wow! I must say an S class is a very different car than an E-class wagon. You went in a different direction with this purchase didn't you? Lol

Nevertheless, congrats on your new addition. Looks like you have Porcelain interior?

Ha, I was actually never committed to a particular type. Sedan, wagon, SUV as long as it can comfortably fit in a car seat, I'm all open.

Thanks! I am not even sure what exactly the colour is called. Haven't looked into it. I thought its Porcelain like you did by looking at the pictures. But Vin decoder says it's beige. The colour in the pictures is definitely a bit off. In real life, it's kind of in between.
