Retrofit Live Traffic?
Hi.
I recently bought a 2013 post-facelift E-Class.
Have to admit that I love it - with one exception.
I had mistakenly thought that all of the post-facelift cars had live traffic built in to Comand, but apparently mine is a few months too early for it, so I just have the TMC version (Radio Traffic Announcements).
Is is there any way to upgrade to the TomTom live traffic, by adding aftermarket SIM card or anything?
Its really annoying that I have a fantastic built-in SatNav, but I have to have Waze on my phone at the same time, just to get me around the traffic.
Thanks
Craig

Not terribly sure on the 2013, on my 2011 you buy a traffic subscription from Sirius XM radio. You can buy it with or without the satellite radio stations.
Also, for what it's worth, the traffic reporting from Sirius stinks, and I use Waze on my phone anyway. I NEVER use the M-B Stat-Nav system.

I use Google Maps, even though I have Nav on my 2014.
Google maps have live traffic updates, after it purchased Waze, few importsnt features(except cop with a radar), most of them are shown in the app.
It reroutes, and tells me, it found a faster route and want to take it or not..!

Thanks guys.
Looks like I'll have to live with being ever-so-slightly disappointed and put a Brodit holder next to the Comand screen, to run Waze.

I'm using this, it has big suction cup than other brands, I believe. I mounted it right below the center mirror. with this and my 6sPlus, it doesn't block much of my view anyway.

I got this for mine:
It keeps it off the vents and windshield, sits nicely over the ash tray (so doesn't block anything, except for some of the climate control buttons), and I can charge my phone off of the USB ports. And I can still use both cup holders. I do have to look down when using navigation apps, though... so it might not be for everyone.

I used that in the past, and I kind of watch movies when I drive long distances. Now, with distronic plus(which is just an aid), makes no difference in my driving style, but, adds much safety to my journey.

These guys make the best clips I've seen yet...http://www.proclipusa.com/. BTW...don't worry about the year of the vehicle in the search. I've ordered a 2011 and up model year mount and it works just fine on my 2010. Going to hard wire my charger mount on my next DIY. Good stuff and always a discount / coupon running so don't pay full price. Just Google "ProclipUSA coupon" for at least 10% off. Good Luck. Like others have states Waze app is the way to go. You'd spend less on clips than the Comand Navi update disks and you'd still never even get close to the functionality of Waze.
