Again drive both the 350, and 550. If you feel that 4matic is a necessary option, then keep looking if you like the M278 TT. I DO!

i drove both i like the 4matic but the look and feel and strengh of the cls is unmatched its tough lol

Yeah, power IS addictive. Car and Driver claimed in their review of a 2012 E550 that it had a 4.3 second 0-60 time.

No worries just get you some winter tires to switch to for that season. I have a RWD E550 and I love it. Don't get me wrong I have a few moments of tension when it's snowy out but the 4Matic feels restrictive when you drive them back to back. Granted I've only driven the C300 and E350 4 Matics recently.

the cls has no warranty but 36k miles
the eclass has 12k Miles with 2.5years of warranty CPO , longterm wise whats a better decision

Now this is probably where the biggest difference is. Many people would not purchase a CLS even with low miles without a warranty. IMO if you can afford the typically repairs that might pop up I'd still go for the CLS. However, it's a risk that many would not take.

I have to agree with you J. The whole idea of owning any luxury vehicle means being able to get the maximum enjoyment out of it. Not having to settle for something less because the warranty ran out. Owning any luxury brand long-term (5, 1please or more years) entails being able to handle the costs of ownership. I agree after reading lots of posts on this and other luxury auto brand sites, that most people will settle for the car with the warranty over what they may really want to drive. Just the way it is.

Have you checked insurance costs? The CLS had higher costs to insure according to my former insurance agent when I was researching E/CLS last fall. I think that your choices right now are MPG versus Smiles per Mile.

^^ coupe's cost more to insure(atleast 2dr coup accord vs 4 dr sedan, when I checked for myself, back in 2013).

BTW, CL'S' means S-Class? vs E-Class?
How many miles do you put everyday? Both are Similar MPG anyway.
How many people usually get in and out of your vehicle(how big is the family?) to calculate space.

Now, what are the interior features that you might be having or missing? Like any safety features? comfort features? Don't worry about aesthetics, you can upgrade later down the road.

Just a reminder, German cars are an elephant to feed, and both are white in color, they are white elephants to feed

I would ask you to think about the 350 with warranty and 4matic, but, again, there is 100'ish hp that you're missing. Do you need that everyday? Are you really missing that out? It is fun to have it when needed, but, what kind of driver are you?

I liked the look of the CLS than the E-Class, but, don't like the road noise it generated down the down, due to coupe. check in that forum, whether they have any problems with that frameless windows.
That is one additional electronic thing (to break) when compared to E-Class.

Get the CLS550. From my perspective, I generally have always gone for cars that are fun to drive and have good performance (handling, acceleration, good road feel, etc.) characteristics. Just have it checked out ahead of time by a good independent who works on MB regularly to ensure there's no major issues not being disclosed to you. Don't take it to the corner auto shop that works on Honda, Toyota or whatever and have never looked under the hood of a MB or any other luxury brand.

As for winter driving, I agree with J. Just slap a set of winter tires on it for the season. No big deal.

i like power when it is needed i currently have a 2009 acura TL sh awd and a chryslerr 300S and usually just me my wife and my daughter




both have enough packages to satisfy anyone , premium one , lane and break , same interior colors tan with wood grain , the E class has a panoramic roof added to it ,

Given the differences in styling, sight lines, engines, back seat configuration, etc. you should have a preference.

it foesnt have warranty it has 36k miles only thats not bad and costs 29k and its flawless interior and out ,


i just dont know if its worth it i never had a german car and dont know how crazy the repairs can be for this car

Is the CLS a CPO car? If not, are there extended warranties available to you if you're concerned? I can't comment on CLS reliability. You might want to check that forum.

But you're buying a car not a warranty. If you prefer the CLS than keep shopping if you want one still under warranty. Be prepared to pay more.

Here's the thing with owning any luxury brand vehicle, they all cost a lot more to repair than what you're likely used to with your two existing cars. Parts prices on based on what the vehicle was selling for new, not what you are buying it for today. Labor costs vary, but I would say MB is comparable to other German brands and actually a bit lower for some things than Porsche or Audi, but more for other things on a BMW. It all evens out in the end.. Bottom line, buying German or Italian luxury cars is not like owning the average Japanese or American vehicle. Just make sure you are comfortable with all that.
