20" rims on a 2014 E350 coupe

Whats up guys, new to the forum 1st post. Recently bought a 2014 E350 coupe as well as 20" rims. Front wheels are 20x9 +35 wrapped with 245/35/20. The rear wheels are 20x10.5 +45 wrapped with 275/30/20. After installing I noticed some major rubbing in the front against the strut protector. My question is what your guys recommendations for a 4matic vehicle encountering this problem ? What do you guys recommend for a tire in the front. I was thinking I could go with 245/30/20 although im not crazy about having that much tire protecting my rims. That will also change the relationship between the front and rear wheels revoltions per mile to a 3% difference. Can I expect any adverse complicatios from doing this ? Any help regarding these issues are appreciated.

KEY08 is good with this topic; you may want to ask him.

tresean1 How should I go about that should I send him a pm ?

I'm here. I don't know everything. LOL
20" wheels can be tricky on the W212. That extra inch is problematic in front.
Let me look at this. 3% is a no go for 4Matic

People running 20" wheels have had fitment issues, especially when running an aggressive offset, like 35 where you are at up front. The 245/30-20 seems to clear and work with this offset, but it will put your rotation and circumference at a 2.7% difference as you have pointed out. Personally, I would not run that on a 4Matic. It is your choice, however and RWD is a non issue and why a lot of guys like the 20's on RWD.

It is the aggressive offset combined with the 20" wheel that is your problem. I am running a 19" wheel with a 245/35-19 front(9") on a 38ET with no rub issues. There is a slight poke. My rear tires are 285/30-19(9.5") with a 52ET. The difference in circumference is .1%, so well within the 4Matic tolerance.

Not to pass you around here, but you could contact the sponsor Need4Speed and ask them for some advice to see if there is a happy medium to solve your issue. I hate to see you buying and swapping new tires to make this work.

Thank you for your help KEY08. I was considering possibly modifying that strut plate to fit my front wheels. Do you think that coupd possibly be a bad idea ?

KEY08 07-19-2017 12:42 PM

I am not aware of anyone posting on here that they had modified the plate. I guess that may be a possibility and an option for you. I'm concerned you are not going to find the right tire sizes you need to please the 4Matic, so maybe that is a good route to take.

Angelo - did you modify or trim the 4matic front spring lower perch? What was the outcome or solution? I have a 2014 E550 4matic and see the same problem with the 20" AMG "test" wheel I purchased (43mm offset vs 48mm stock). I am considering trimming about 1/4 off the outside of the lower spring perch and adding a 15mm wheel spacer to fit 245-35-20 tires all around. Has any trimmed the spring lower base???

20" Rims advice 2009 E350 Coupe?

Hi there, this is my first post. I have a 2009 E350 Coupe and I have been offered 20X8.5ET35 20X9.5ET38.
Is the off set acceptable and if not, what would be, aesthetically, rimes from19-20 and what offset would you suggest?

Thanks and cheers:)
