backup camera issues

So I just got a 2016 e350 4matic sedan. The backup camera does not beep when I get close to something. is there a setting somewhere where I can turn it on or off or does my car not have this option, which would suck.

Do you have the parktronic option with the proximity sensors in the front/rear bumpers? If not I am afraid you are out of luck.

Not that I am aware of. I myself am a new MB owner so I would wait for others to chime in.

The backup camera itself does not include ultrasonice sensors. Those are included with Parktronic.

I guess you could wire some type of aftermarket audio aid to the trunk or bumper that would measure the distance to obstacles.

Have you owned other brands with a rear camera that beeped when approaching objects without some type of parking sensor? Some manufacturers have rear bumper only sensors for this very reason, that people complained the camera was not responsive enough. My daughter's basic Honda Fit has a downward top view option for the rear camera that can pilot you to within a mm of the object behind you. Maybe MB needs to do something like that for those without sensors.
