120,000 Mile Update
I guess it had to happen at some point.
I had my first mechanical failure. The adblue pump and temp sensor failed and had to be replaced at 115,000 miles. You have to drop the fuel tank for access so it's not a DIY job, at least not for me. Other than that, my overall MPG for the last 120,000 has been 37.9. Best tank 43.1 MPG. Worst tank 35.8 MPG. I drive mostly on the interstate. Other than regular oil and filter changes and 2 sets of tires, (and a preventative belt change) I haven't had other service costs. I'll check back in at 130,000. |
Would be nice to know year build and engine?
My E250 BT makes 40 mpg in city driving, but after MAF replacement now I have oxygen sensor codes. Darn sensors get expensive. For older models they are in the range of $100, for W212 we are talking $300 |
Thanks for the update!! Always enjoy reading them. Sorry about the first bigger issue!
I looked up your first thread on your 2014 E250 and noticed that you ordered the car with leather seats. How is the leather holding up after 120,000 miles? Is the coating wearing out or are you getting any cracking? |
2014 E250
I have a 2014 E250.
The car (including the leather) looks new (except for some road rash on the front from all the highway driving.) I don't have any issues with the leather seats--no cracking or even creasing. It's not the most supple leather, but it appears to be very durable. |

Wow, that's amazing. It's great to hear good news about MB reliability. :y |
Cheers on the mileage. My diesels at 55k since my wifes been driving it, or itd be closer to 80 now... The cars respond better to being driven alot and often instead of sitting and being babied; with short drives etc.
Mine is the v6 diesel though so the mpg is a bit lower, especially on the street. my best mpg was 39 and my lowest was 20 (city, flooring it every light) Yours has the updated transmission; youre coming up on the 2nd fluid service correct? Hows the shift feel? Adblue pump at 115k is really not a bad thing at all. You got really far without any issues! my boss has the new s class with the leather too, and its creasing alot... especially on the center console arm rest thing. real bad; in less than 2 years |

Actually on few occasion I floored it to pass over double line ;)
Downhill was about 10 miles and 99.9 was end of the scale as I had to do much better. But looks like computer memorized better mpg as the 99.9 did stay for additional 15 miles of flat freeway driving. The 45 miles drive home averaged over 70 mpg. |

Why did you sell GLK ?
Even I like sedans for comfort, I am thinking about getting GLK for those desert runs to the lake. |
