Not So Dynamic Seat - Need Diagnostic Help
Pretty much overnight the driver’s side dynamic seat in my ‘13 e550 stopped massaging, bolstering and lumbar-ing. I found the 30A dynamic seat fuse (#60) in the trunk fuseblock blown. Replaced it and seat operated for a minute or so and stopped again. Fuse didn’t blow right away but has since blown again. Passenger (non-dynamic) seat lumbar support still works. LEDs on control buttons still work. Called dealer and described problem and they said it sounds like the seat bladder. That’ll start at $1000. No thanks.
My first question is would the bladder problem really result in a blown fuse? I sort of think a leaking bladder would not lead to a blown fuse. Anyone else experiencing this scenario? I have googled a fair amount and find quite a lot of info on previous generation cars but not so much on mine. Looking for any ideas.
Anyone confirm if the bladder or motor is a weak spot in these cars?
Thanks!

Rear SAM f60 relates to pump, could be leaking bladder causing pump to overrun blowing fuse. Definitive diagnose, pull fault codes using MB DAS (diagnostics). DIY - start with pump, see attachments.

How PNEUMATIC bladder can blow ELECTRIC fuse ???
I think somebody needs to go back to school.
The only thing that can blow 30 amp fuse is the pump.
I salvaged some dynamic seats components from W211 that I found on JY. Including set of bladders and modules. No longer have the car, so let me know if you could use them.
I am thinking about converting the pump into tire inflator. It pumps 35 psi easy and blade pumps last way longer than piston pumps.

Thanks for the info, drawings and offer of parts. Today I called M-B customer service to gripe about the cost and they requested I take the car to the dealer for diag. Depending on what they come up with for ‘help’ will determine my next steps.
I fully agree that only current blows a fuse-that was why I questioned dealer saying it’s the bladder. A leaky bladder should result in less load on the pump, not more.

I purchased a 2013 E550 with the dynamic seats option a year ago with less than 30,000 mies. As part of the CPO process the seat cushion was replaced.
