2010 w212 e220 cdi starting problem ant digital clock
When I turn ignition switch, display is blank. When removing/inserting the switch several times display comes on and starts.
clock time is wrong.
I checked on dashboard commends there is nowhere to set time and date.
I checked navigator, system but only has display settings ex daytime, night time but no time settings.
I am a computer oriented person but I couldn't find anything.
I reset system but still same problem with time
does anyone has any ideas about the problems.
thanks

I recall setting time on command center and it should synchronize cluster clock and center analog-looking clock lifted models have.
Your ignition switch/chip seem to have communication problem. Is it the same with other key(s) ?

The time is set in the COMMAND screen. Press the "sys" button and use the scroll device to get to the time display. Do you have a manual?

yes i have the manual and i followed the above procedure BUT under SYS menu i only have display type (daytime, nighttime), language, Bluetooth and reset.
there is no sub menu in any of items listed that has to do with date and time.
i checked commands on steering wheel also and i can not find anything.

And your actual manual confirms this? My manual shows how to change the time. I have no answer then. Sorry

The pdf shows how to change time format, but not how to change the time.
I got my W212 from different time zone and had to change it, but don't remember how I did it.
Other tough is that those cars "talk" to cellphone towers and they take time from them. That allows for automatic time change when you cross time zone.
Meaning maybe your car has correct time, but from different time zone, so changing time zone should correct it?

that's how the manual is stated also.
using SYS command there is only display brightness, announcements, reset, language.
I even ask my mechanic for this he tried but no luck.
I am wondering about the solution.
Thanks anyway

Hi, having just bought my Japanese spec S550, in Abu Dhabi, I have learnt a LOT, about the clock and functions.
I suspect your analogue clock is set by the GPS system and that is why there is no option for you to set it manually via the COMMAND interface.
When I first got my car it had an Emirates command console fitted. In order to get ALL the options, including massage seats etc working properly
a local dealer sourced a Japanese COMMAND unit for me and installed it and set everything up. I now also have a carplay module clipped onto
the back which gives me full carplay and MB Command functions at the press of a switch.
The ONLY thing not working is the analogue clock, but I can put up with that....
I believe my clock is offset because it thinks it is in Japan. I also only have Japanese maps on the COMMAND navigator screen, which I no
longer use as WAZE and Google maps are much more current over here.
I am told that I could removed the clock, set the hands manually and then put it back in and it would keep time from then, but I haven't found
the YouTube clip for that yet, and I am not bored enough yet, to try that bit of DIY yet.....
Good luck

Hi Left Coast, I have searched ALL of the Command options and sub menus.
I think that the Japanese config doesn’t have the option to manually set the analogue dash clock.
I imagine their thinking is why would you bother, when the GPS sets it and keeps it more accurately?
If anything changes, I will update the list.
Cheers
John

In the 2010 model, the daylight savings time is set to the old DLST calendar, it was changed in 2014 or so, so the car is two weeks ahead in the fall and two weeks sooner in the spring. If I forget or am too lazy, it changes to the correct time in two weeks.
Also you can choose DST or EST, CST,MST or PST, daylight saving time[Off by two weeks] Eastern standard time, Central standard time, mountain standard time and Pacific standard time, I believe you can also set it to GMT Greenwich mean time, then plus or minus from there, When I took delivery of my new '12 in Manhattan, the clock was six hours behind New York or eastern time, [Stuttgart time.] or Greenwich plus one. Also you can change the time with Voice Command and the little Knob next to the drivers dash vent, pull out and turn left for forward right for backward. also you can change your continent location in command, then you will have local maps as the GPS will update.

Hmm, I can. can't you set DST or standard time and region for NAV? do you have a clock knob on the dash just right of the drivers dash vent? Remember my pre-facelift the whole left gauge bezel is a clock.

no knob, the clock on my facelift car is an electronic servo driven clock.
