W212 Reverse Lights Suck

So, I've ordered some LEDs to hopefully make my reverse lights suck less, but does anyone else feel like Mercedes threw in halogen bulbs as an after thought on all LED tail lights? I have tinted windows, and it seems like my reverse lights don't exist. Is there anything else you've done to brighten them up considering the backup camera shows more bumper than what's actually behind your car? Also, how do you get the new bulbs in the housing?

1- you have answered your own question- all backup lights leave something to be desired

2- window tint? Of course it’s going to make it move difficult

the backup camera really leaves me scratching my head. so bad.

My old W203 had far better reverse lights. Both of them, actually. Also, my old 300E coupe that was ancient had better backup lights. Granted, the window tint doesn't help, but I've had BMWs and Porsches with the same tint and could at least see the reverse lights. This car absolutely falls short in that department. Sure, we'd all love to have the equivalent of headlights for reverse lights, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. Until then, I would really like to get just a little input from others on this.

I actually changed my license plates lights to bright white LEDs awhile back and they inadvertently made reversing a little clearer at night. It's not a real solution but maybe they'll help you.

may be this helps? or as peachy mentioned, just upgrade the license plate lights..!

I don't think I have the same problem. My Reverse Lights and Tag Lights are extremely bright white LEDs and not halogens. The same as on my wife's ML. I was actually impressed with how bright they are.

You have the facelift model, so I presume they took care of it for your body style (perhaps based off of customer feedback?). I’ve ordered LED 7w bulbs that are rated at 500 lumens each. Hopefully that remedies the issue. I think part of the issue is that they put form over function. The actual housing for the reverse lights is tiny in comparison to older models.
