OBD2 Code Reader for 2010 E350 4m
Any recommendations on the optimal entry level code reader for my 2010 E350? Is the Foxwell MB NT 510
good one for keyless go issues. Priced at $149. |
I bought 2 scanners lately and left ICarsoft MB II
It reads almost everything on our W211 and most on W212. Can't get full data from my OM651 engine, but it does generic DPF regeneration and coming with updates, I hope the software will come soon. I also have MaxiEcu and like it for shop troubleshooting due to big laptop screen and fast response. But ME is European-oriented and some US options are not covered. |

It shows that it is the Mercedes Benz designated unit. At least that makes me hope it would work for my 2010 E350. I've
read enough negatives on the Icarsoft i980, etc., that I don't think they are reliable (and can't be updated with WIN 10 PC). Others that are recommended online for Mercedes are the Innova 3100 & 3150E, Autel AL619 or ML629, BAFX 345, Actron CP9680, and the BlueDriver. Quite a mystery since none of these vendors actually have a website that specifies if it will support the model & year of your car. |
The problem with choosing a scanner is that the sellers have no idea what they are selling, while Chinese producers don't have real product support.
I bought another scanner, what being MB oriented was promising. Still I did not take sale add for granted and contacted manufacturer about support for W212. The whole response was "It will work" but when I finally bought it - it did not. But I also contact US seller before purchase making sure the scanner is returnable. |
Autel DIAGLINK is $110 and about $99 after a coupon you can apply. It's basically the MD802, but it only supports one car manufacturer line, additional ones are $10. I liked the Launch X431 Easydiag Plus, used to be much cheaper, but the price is up there now, about $140, but the plus version covers 2 car lines.

I just watched the youtube review of the FOXwell Mercedes NT 510 Automaster Pro, and it is very impressive. Will access ALL the control units and allows resets. Check it out here

i might just give this a try |
But you'll have to pay them (I think it is $10 per vehicle) if you add another car brand. But it is probably worth it if it will go down to the levels of each control unit. Doesn't look
like it does any diagnosis of the problem (or how to fix it) but most scanners don't. That would be great, but I'll have to look someplace else for that with my key fob problem (it won't unlock doors or trunk). |

Yes, I have keyless go, checked all the fuses, and they are good. So the keyfob won't power lock the doors or trunk or gas lid door. My tech thinks a possible wire came loose behind the fuse panel. I just
have to get it to him for 1/2 day to figure it out. Antenna might also be the problem. It is more just an inconvenience at this point, so I'm bidding my time before I pay him to chase the 'rabbit'. |
Just bought this today for $144 on Ebay, the Foxwell Mercedes software NT 510. They have about 5 left. Seems worth a try, and will probably
pay for itself on an 8 yr old mercedes loaded with electronics Anything to keep the car out of the dealership! |

Foxwell Mercedes NT 510 reader works great. Easy to register on line, download the latest information, and scan my 2010 E350. Received Fault Code U1 14587/ST ORED which
the reader interprets as "Communications with Keyless GO has a malfunction. The message is missing". The keyfob won't lock/unlock doors or trunk. Batteries are new and fuses are all good. So wondering where to run this down and isolate the point of failure. Any suggestions? The foxwell is an excellent device, went through 31 modules and allows me to save the results on the microSD card in the unit. Highly recommended. I cleared some other related code faults and that worked as well. One said 'antenna interference'. I will assume these will all reappear if connected to the keyless go power lock failure continues. |
The other week i went to my indy shop , they did the scanning part... and it showed the same fault with keyless go but it wasnt current , just stored. Didn't see anything strange with keyless go behavior though.
some communication problem if i remember correctly. But yeah.. just saying since i saw you talking about that as well |
