Spark Plug recommendations
Good morning, I have a 2011 E350 4-matic with 57,500 miles. Since it's close to spark plug time, I am wondering what brand and type of plugs. I have been told Bosch, NGK and Denso. After brand should I get platinum or iridium?
Thanks for the help. |
There's a lot of threads on plugs - search if you need more details but the 2 oem suppliers are:
Bosch platinum plugs YR7MPP33 NGK Laser Platinum Plug PLKR7A I changed my plugs at about the same miles and the originals looked good, had plenty of life left. But that's ok, the diy cost is pretty small. I used Bosch but to be honest based on feedback about mileage, if I did it again I would go with the NGK. Both are good performance wise but several have seen mileage drop with Bosch. In my case there were no issues but worth a mention. Be sure to torque to spec. |
Ditto on the laser platnium, they seem pretty popular. They're like $8.32 a plug on rockauto.com.

I've used NGK plugs in every type of engine/car, and never had a single issue. There's a reason they build OEM plugs for so many manufacturers. Bosch stuff is good too, but I would never go with anything else if NGK is an option for that engine.
