Mercedes Service guy says Pre-Paid Maintenance not Transferable to new owner?
Mercedes Service guy says Pre-Paid Maintenance not Transferable on a used Mercedes I bought.
He says the reason is because the service plan is attached to the person who bought it, not the car.
However I have seen other forum posts in the past, where people claim it is attached to the VIN of the car, not the person who paid for the pre-paid plan, therefore it should be transferable to the new owner.
So has anyone actually ever been able to use a pre-paid plan that was bought by the previous owner, and accepted by the Mercedes dealer for the new owner?

Mercedes Canada states on their website under Prepaid Maintenance that it is "Fully transferable from person to person through an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer (certain terms and conditions apply). There is also a downloadable Prepaid Maintenance Transfer Form on the website. Check the US website for something similar.

My understanding is that it is transferable in a private sale between individuals. However, if a car has PPM and it is sold or turned into a dealer and they resell it, then the PPM does not transfer. That's what I was told 4 years ago when I bought my PPM. Rules could have changed since.
I do recall a post where someone who bought a used car from a dealer found out it had remaining PPM services at no charge. No idea how that worked out for them.

I was at our Mercedes dealer yesterday and the Service manager and the Finance Manager both met with me and told me the prepaid maintenance plans are NOT transferable to the next owner, but extended warranties are. They said the pre=paid maintenance is use it or lose it no refunds, no prorates, nothing.
Also they charged me today $550 for a spare Keyless Go remote for our daughter's 2013 C250 (W204)./
Total ripoff, but captive audience, what can you do, found no companies on eBay, checked with local key programming guys, but they said only Mercedes can do this as the key usually arrives already programmed for your VIN. If not programmed and ready, they need your car for 2 days to program it, so hopefully it shows up Tuesday with the remote working

This is not true. As others have stated if you buy a car privetly the Pre-paid maintance can be transferred, but if it goes thru a Mercedes dealer it will not be. Also it is refundable - I know I got a check for the balance of mine when I traded one car for another.

It IS transferable but the original purchaser has to initiate the transfer with M-B Financial before the ownership transfer. You probably are only going to get this done if you buy from a private party. Once a car is traded in at a dealer, the transfer can't happen. When the seller talks to M-B Finance about the transfer they will ask him if he rather have a REFUND than do a transfer----- mmmmm, let me think about that: $1297 refund or give it to the buyer.
