HI everyone
bit of a noobee but many years' experience with cars as an AA patrol, single-seater FFord racing mechanic etc.
My diesel merc has a gear-change problem; If I accelerate from lights there is an hesitation in the engine, the rev counter drops and picks up. I f I keep my foot in then there is a harsh change else if I have time to react and release the throttle then it just stays in the same gear until I gently accelerate again. This has also happened twice (during the last 8k miles) whilst accelerating from, say, 50mph to overtake.
I have done the usual 7G-Tronic reset.
Occasionally, I can hear a fuel pump whine singing away. I haven't been able to couple the two symptoms together yet.
Do these symptoms mean anything to a club member?
