2010 E350 Rear Impact Bar Replacement

My wife’s 2010 E350 was involved in a rear impact incident. We took the car to the Indianapolis dealership, World Wide Motors, and they have said that the rear impact bar is bent. The claims adjuster also agrees that it is bent. Where we are running into an issue is that the dealership says it must be replaced and the adjuster says it can be repaired. The dealership says that the MB engineers require it to be replaced according to the maintenance and repair procedures. Supposedly a repair is specifically not allowed. The claims adjuster claims that is false. I would prefer to get the component replaced. Does anyone have any idea on how to prove this requirement to the claims adjuster?

Have dealership provide a copy of applicable MB mandate.

Agreed. It's an impact bar, it's meant to protect the vehicle from excessive impact damage (to a point). This is not something I'd want repaired (metal fatigue) nor as an insurer for that matter.
