aftermarket warranty - Non MB
Advice appreciated. I am the second owner of my E350. It was not purchased from a dealer and it is not CPO. My warranty is going to expire July 2019. I have very low mileage,only 28,000. The dealer claims that I am ineligible since I am the second owner and not CPO. The dealer in Northern California wants to sell me a warranty from Penske that is 3 years for $3000. At that point, I will have a seven year old car with no warranty. I am wondering if there are any other policies I could purchase that would give me more years ,especially since my mileage is so extremely low.

I would check with the vendors in the extended warranty sub-forum. I think if you didn't buy it from a dealer, you might be able to get the MB 7/75 or 7/100k extended warranty. They may have changed the rules though, just send them your VIN and ask if it qualifies and get a quote. Should be cheaper than 3k. Also the E350 seems to be holding up and there aren't too many major issues with the car and if you found an indy mechanic, that could be as cheap as getting an extended warranty and getting the work done at the MB dealer.

I bought my 2011 e350 with 25k miles from a third party (non MB) dealer back in early 2014 I think it was. I'm the second owner. Before buying the car I verified (directly called MB) that the car was eligible for ELW after the initial bumper to bumper warranty expired. I bought the 7yr/100k ELW for about 3k BEFORE the original warranty expired. I had shopped around for ELW and bought from a fellow named Jason at another MB dealership. Look on the Extended Warranty forum here for info and recommendations. I did not want a third party warranty thus my purchase of the MB extended warranty.
I used the ELW several times with absolutely no problems. Car is now out of warranty.
Unless MB has changed its policy I think the dealer is telling you a story. Contact MB directly with the VIN number to verify.
