Lifetime Warranty on Battery from AutoNation

I was watching local news tonight and saw ad for lifetime battery replacement from AutoNation. The TV ad state $99 and that's too good of a thing so I went to their website and saw it's actually starting at $189 for lifetime. It seem that their batteries are reband from Exide. Not sure how much will our MB battery will cost and the finer details.

Please provide feed back if anyone take this offer from their nation wide dealership.

There was a topic about lifetime batteries, where one of MB dealers offered them for $450.
The site you linked does not give quotes, so I wonder how much that would really cost at autonation.
It is sure consideration as batteries on W212 seem to last less than 4 years (due to variable charging?) .
But how many owners keep their cars for more than 4 years and beside, Bosch batteries with 96 months warranty sell for $170.
Bottom line, I think the promotion is sales pitch, who has nothing to do with battery quality. They want to lure buyers into money spending, betting on them selling the car, what will void the warranty.
I have a friend tho had 1960's classic car. Back in 1970's one of the auto supplier was selling lifetime batteries as well.
He's got 3 of them replaced before finally somebody broke into his car and stole the battery.

I agree with you on the luring in people to their dealership. It's more about service than selling you the car. I remember to saw a video on dealerships last year and the profits they make. Here are the break downs (and I think one of them was AutoNation).

25% of their profit is from car sales. Average profits per car is around $1,800 if I remember correctly
25% from financing, extended warranties, wheel, paint, and etc warranties that they sell when you sign paper works.
50% of their profit come from their service department.

Years ago I had a lifetime alignment from Firestone. Every time I go there for alignment, they will always come to me and said "your transmission oil is dirty and need flush and refill" or "your brake oil is dirty and need flush and refill". I always decline those as I took them to my mechanic.

Autonation has a MB dealership in California:

$209.99 lifetime battery for as long as you own car = Good Deal if you live nearby

Looks like the $209 quote will be for aux battery.
Whenever I see "special" written with double tongue, I tend to pass.

Hi guys.... my w212 2011 350sport was built in March 2011. I bought the car new in Oct 2011. I had my 60k maintenance in oct 2018 with 64 k on it. Original battery still working just fine. Had it checked, tech said still good also got my first set of brake pads. Battery is 7 years old and still good. I say Merc batteries worth keeping until a tech or service manager tells you to change it.

My factory '09 C300 battery was just under 9 years old before it kicked the bucket, I replaced with another genuine MB battery as ~9 years is nothing to scoff at. Yes it was slightly more expensive than aftermarket (IIRC it was $60-$70 more) but when you factor that over 7-9 years without the headache of a no-start condition it is well worth it.
