Looked and... '14 E550 super clunky shifting between D and R, while stopped
Hi all,
I've looked and can't find anything conclusive. I have a W212 '14 E550 4Matic sedan that has had some transmission "issues," see: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...50-4matic.html Now, I've noticed my car very noticeably clunk (sound and physical jarring movement) while shifting from Drive to Park, while the car is stopped with my foot on the foot brake. I'm not sure if this is a normal trait of the less-than-great 7 speed transmission *or* an actual issue... Car is due for service in March and will have MB Service look at it but wanted to get some information beforehand. Thanks, D. |
I was initially thinking possible engine or transmission mounts but 14 seems awfully new for that. I get the same sound when shifting Park to Reverse on a cold engine. The very overly exaggerated slope of my driveway doesn't help either.

While i had many trans issues with my two 14 550's, I never had a drive to reverse clunk how many miles on your 2014? |

Sidebar because I know we've chatted about this before: I had MB service look into my clunky 2nd-3rd shifts issue, as per your threads. They reset the adaptations and that provided a somewhat noticeable improvement in shifting. I'm not sure if it's 100% better and butter smooth. |
